@redpriest - how did you end up fixing your roof? did a body shop do it, and if so, which one?
I have a similar spot on my roof but the damaged area is smaller and doesn't look like it's as deep through the clear coat. I called Mountain View BMW, got in touch with their body shop and they said there's no BMW repair kit and promptly informed me that a new roof would be about $4K in parts and labor A few body shops I talked to in the South Bay wouldn't touch it and told me to go through the dealer and/or my insurance. I'm curious if there's a Bay Area shop that's willing to take the simple approach with this (sand / resin / clear coat / polish) instead of recommending a new roof.

Short answer: find the body shops that are certified to work on exotics. They will likely have experience dealing with carbon fibre.
