i would've got the speed cloth if it was available in red

i had an '02 s2k with the white/red combo so i had to have it in my m3. i hope the leather is as durable. i'll be sure to condition it often.

AW/FR FTW!!

Get heated seats if your winters are under 30F

maybe the cloth doesn't get cold but thats not why I always get heated seats, usually I have enough clothes on where the cold leather isn't whats bothering me, its the -10 F in my car that is bothering me and heated seats kick in immediatly, compared to your heat taking a few minutes to start working. Cloth or leather, get heated seats and for that matter get them even in warm climates it will help you sell your car later.

I second that, still debating on what color to get (space gray or lemans blue) but if I go gray I am getting red leather, if I go lemans blue I am thinking speed cloth (but then I can't get that awesome garage door opener, compas and power folding mirrors )

you can. the prem package doesn't include leather. only the garage door, compass, folding mirrors, and trim.

Well, I guess it does and it doesn't. It seems that you can indeed order a car with speed cloth and without the Prem package. But if you select the Prem package, then leather is free.

To see that, go to "Build your own" on the BMW web site and select leather. The price for leather will be $950. Then add the Premium package. The price of leather will become $0.

Without the Premium package:

My M3 Coupe
4.0-liter, V-8 engine
Rear-wheel drive
See all standard features
Base MSRP $57,850
Alpine White $0
Black Novillo Leather $950
Titanium Shadow Trim $0
Destination & Handling: $825
Total MSRP as Built $59,625

With the Premium package:

My M3 Coupe
4.0-liter, V-8 engine
Rear-wheel drive
See all standard features
Base MSRP $57,850
Alpine White $0
Black Novillo Leather $0
Blue-gray Brushed Aluminium Trim $0
Premium Package $2,000
Destination & Handling: $825
Total MSRP as Built $60,675

Yeah premium package automatically adds the leather, can't add it without leather, I think on the coupe it doesn't show leather as included but it still is. Their packages are pretty good deals (I mean the carbon fiber trim, leather and BMW assist is $2350 on their own and the package with a few other things is only $2000) but getting cloth isn't as much because you don't want to pay for leather but that you don't want leather... I have never seen a BMW with over 15,000 miles without "ass" marks in the drivers seat

oh ok. good to know. i just noticed it on the list of things included that leather wasn't an option but they offset it by setting the price to $0.

Your wrong and proving your ignorance. The sides are leather along with the entire top of the front seat. The only thing that is leatherette is the top of the center console lid. I have Speed Cloth, I have compared it to a Novillo leather car. I could also find BMW literature that proves it if you wish.

The area most prone to wear are the bolsters. Since the bolsters are leather, I don't know how much more durable the speed cloth will be.

Even if the bolsters were 'ette who cares?

I would have picked 'ette had it been available for the M3. I had 'ette for 7 years with my e46 and it doesn't show wear and tear. All you peeps out there that dis 'ette are fools. Fools I say!!

Yes, the ordering guide lists it as "Cloth/Leather".

The whole center console trim (lid and shifter trim) is actually Novillo leather as well. That's the reason the sucker costs $350 MSRP...

Only if you get extended leather. You can tell the difference because of the stitching. Leather console top is over $700.

The part that I'm talking about is the shifter trim, not the console itself:

We are talking about the same thing. Extended leather includes that piece and the center dash pieces.

It is leather regardless if you have Extended Leather or not, that's what I'm saying...

I can tell you my lid/armrest doesn't look like leather. It is bumpy and not smooth like the leather equipped M3s. I believe it is Leatherette when you order Speed Cloth.
