Looking good! Cat needs a racing stripe on it's helmet though. So pedestrian otherwise.

I like to acknowledge the corner workers on your warm up and cool down laps with a wave. Afterall, if things go horribly wrong, I'd like them to like me enough to put in the extra effort to get me to a safe place.

I like to wave after getting a good point by (first hot lap) too. If it is late I may not...

Try a later turn in at 3 so you can get on the gas sooner.

Maybe a tad later on 4 too as you want to be on the gas prior to the apex, or at the latest at the apex for the short straight.

RE10 Pads

Just picked up the Brembo GT-R kit f/r. Anyone on here with experience with this kit using the RE10 Race Technologies pads?

Have heard very positive things and they are built to last (better be at this price point) but interested in thoughts and alternatives.

I didn't realize it was you or I would have come to say hi. Running in two groups doesn't leave a lot of time to walk around and socialize.

I almost dropped a tire at 6... really glad I didn't. I've been off there many times in gran turismo and it usually results in a hard wallbang. Lol
Almost saved it, but tires were at an odd angle when I got back onto the pavement, resulting on the spin. Honestly, the slide was modest and controllable, I just didn't expect it and it got away from me...

I have to say, I was really worried about blowing sound! Somehow I avoided that!

It's interesting to compare your cornering technique with mine. It looks like in most of the corners, you turn in and hold the wheel at the same angle almost all the way through the turn, and don't start to unwind and accelerate until you've almost completed the turn. The exception to this is the corkscrew. In the corkscrew, you continue to turn the wheel until you hit the apex and immediately start unwinding and accelerating right after the apex (albeit only for a short burst since you then have to make the second turn).

I try to use the technique you use in the corkscrew in every corner to some degree (more for longer corners, less for shorter corners). My reasoning for using this technique is that if you turn in and hold an arc that takes you out to the edge at exit and are truly at the limit, you can't get on the gas until you are almost done with the corner. However, if you continue turning in until you've hit the apex, you can unwind and get on the gas immediately after the apex. This works well with trail braking since you are slowing more and more into the corner, thus enabling you to turn in more and more into the corner. So I'm hoping this makes me a bit slower just prior to and just after the apex but overall faster since I'm accelerating much earlier.

That said, I'm still pretty new to this myself (only about 13 track days starting last March) so I'd like to hear other opinions on the two techniques.

Why running in HPDE 2? Isn't that like low intermediate? You were blowing by lots of drivers, and got stuck behind quite a few for an eternity before they noticed you. There was like a mini conga line in there.

TWS looks almost as wretched as Willow Springs here does in CA. Every time you come near the oval in the distance, it almost looks like grandstands because of all the grooves in it, lol. Looks like a fun configuration though, would love to run it sometime before they shut it down.

Really bummed I missed it. Looks like a perfect day. You go pretty wide right on turn 1, almost near the edge of the track, which for me seems terrifying. I always try to hug the left wall as much as I can, not sure if it helps/hurts any in terms of timing.

Did you notice MDM kick in much? For me, this is the track where I had to turn it off with my NT01. It was killing me on the main straight; I had to nurse the power before I could push it.

Thanks! But I wasn't ride checked to HPDE 3 yet lol. I was suppose to get ride checked that day but I didn't get an instructor till the last session. Yeah it was frustrating being in HPDE 2. Other DEs Im in the yellow group (HPDE 3), but since its my first time with NASA I signed up as HPDE 2. Im just looking forward to next year, I got a free track pass with Topak Racing and hoping to visit Button Willow!

TWS is awesome track! Its fast like COTA but not as hard on the brakes. They been saying TWS is going to close for years so I wonder if it is really going to close lol.

it was a really nice day and temps stayed between 70-72*. i guess i don't hug the left as much as i could. once i got my tire pressures dialed in, i got really comfortable. lots of people baby it there, but i didn't get any mdm interference over the crest. the solid subframe bushings help a lot with weight transfer in the car. as i got more and more comfortable, i wanted to get on the right side of the track and setup to brake in a straight line without any adjustments. it worked well for me and was a lot of fun braking deeper and deeper into turn two.

i turn in early at 11 and don't really have traction issues. lots of people go wide here and my brain just wants to go earlier for some reason and there isn't any drama.

turns 3 and 5 is where i need the most work. i usually turn in too early for 3 for some reason. same with 5.

i had a lot of fun at 9 and 10. they are very rewarding when you get it right and as i worked on those turns throughout the day, the times kept dropping.

i'm not sure what i could be doing differently at the corkscrew. i haven't had any instruction at this track yet, and when i first did it earlier this year, i wasn't sure how to tackle it. i seem to turn in pretty early and then turn right as soon as i hit the left apex. the car has plenty of grip and adding the appropriate power didn't trigger any mdm intervention. there were a few times where i was up a miata's ass and downshifted into 2nd, and i was even able to apply that power pretty liberally once i started finishing my transition to the right. i'm able to exit with the car at about mid track and get it over to the right pretty easily for turn 9. there were a few screw-ups in the corkscrew, but i'm really happy with the transition at 7:30 in the vid.

Was seriously one of the easiest jobs I've undertaken on this car. Diff fluid smells and it's a little messy getting it pumped in but didn't take much time at all. Just have some disposable gloves on hand and go for it!

That's nonsense. One talk, and I got moved from 1 to 3. I'm hoping to try TT soon, though I know I won't be competitive at all.

just got my ss lines on Monday!

ss lines + G-Loc R12 (CT XP10 in the rears already) + solid guide pins + titanium shims + new rear rotors going on next week after baby born on Saturday.

Turn the steering wheel more and unwind so you can get on the gas. Let the car steer itself out rather than holding the arc until track out.

But damn looks fun sounds good. You and the others make me want dct now. Nobody got time to shift anymore

Question for those who know better than me:

I'm hearing that the m3 will be in D-Street (autocross) next season and I'm looking at being competitive. I'm looking for some really good shocks and anti-sway bars as this is basically all DStreet will allow. I've read the Dinan bar is a good choice, but as far as just shocks I don't really know where to start looking. I have a buddy that swears by Vorshlag, and I've done some research, but wanted to know if anybody here is running a setup like I'm thinking (stock springs with really nice struts and a good bar)

Probably the biggest thing that helped me was practicing a smoother brake release and steering input to help with weight transfer.

I have PTSD and don't quite trust my control arms, haha. More balls than me. At least with ACS I have that big catch fence to stop me!

Something happen with the control arms or are they just getting old?
Big willow still scares me too. The morning jitters I get from that course are no joke.

Try running with edc on comfort. You'll dig it.
