Worked flawlessly on 2013 E92, no damage to any components. I trimmed both upper and lower switches and will test to see if the upper switch forces lights on with adaptive lighting set to automatic during daylight hours.

Upper switch definitely forces headlights on when in adaptive mode during daylight hours.

ive seen some vehicles where the rear brake light was so bright at night it seemed like the driver was holding the brake pedal while driving, now im thinking it was rear fog lights. I think the range rover and the cadillac escalade has this option stock.

Cool

I just activated mine on my 2011 E90 sedan. It worked perfectly. I had performed it on my 2009 E90 sedan, and had to do the Lego trick...then I purchased the Euro switch, complete with rear fog light icon on the switch. Now I need a decal to place on my 2011 switch. Any thoughts?

You make a decal, I'll buy one. LOL.

Got my old light switch with rear fog light button enabled already for sale, its the one with the silver trim on the knob.

Recently upgraded to the actual euro one so no need for this one no more.

Glad I tried this!!!

Was going to drop $80 for a new one from ECS.

Took about 15 minutes being careful. Works like a charm.

THANK YOU for the DIY

Worked well for my 2011 e90 328i LCI sedan. I’d work from the inside of the hvac near the dash first, as it seemed easier to pry and loosen.

Also, FYI, mine did not require a lego-mod. The proper plastic piece was already in place. 15 min and looks clean. Utility knive/razor/xacto really is strong enough to cut these cleanly as the plastic is fairly soft. I figure a dremel tool would have been a better choice if I had my druthers, but since the peice you cut is never in view, any bladed tool will do. In fact not being in clean view is the only reason you couldnt do this mod without uninstalling it first (well for LCIs anyway).

Just did it for my 2011 335is and worked perfectly. No additional piece needed. Literally just shaved the 4 tabs and done. Bump for awesome mod.

If you guys want to go one more notch, I bought a random e9x/e8x switch from Ebay europe for like $31 for the button. FWIW, the logo actually lights up. So basically BMW just put a blockoff plate yet the LED and functions all work..

I will be doing this now, I have been wondering...Is there some way to add front fog lights? Are the connections there already? and maybe cut out slot in the center grill for them? I love having fog lights! I'd bet it looks tacky though.

I did the same a few years ago. Used it once, in the fog, and the person behind me kept flashing their brights at me.
