We have the ability to code the Performance seats but will need the vehicle here at our for scanning.

If there is a local SoCal owner with the seats installed - please contact me directly.

What does coding entail? Just removing the airbag lights or clearing the faults? Does the EAS module take care of this?

Just want to get clarification what "ability to code the Performance seats" means.

Set the sensor under the center cushion, installed the seat belt buckle, plugged them both in, cleared faults and made everything work like stock.

I now have a roll cage and harness belts, so I actually dont want my airbags to work cause it could cause more damage then it could prevent.
Actually the occupancy sensor is not in the leather but is embeded in to cushion. The occupancy sensor/cushion can be ordered through a BMW Dealership and I am looking at that option, it is around $450.00. The thing that I don't know is would I still need a software upgrade, if I do, then that software version is not available in the US. I somehow want to make sure that Occupancy sensor is the only thing I will need before I go ahead and spend those $450.00??????

Coding will entail of programming the seats to fit the vehicle. To see if this is even possible on US vehicles, we will need a read first - which requires the vehicle here.

The module from Macht Schnell will perform the same task, but disables the passenger airbag since it is intended for race seats.

Tom,

I think I talked to you. The car is located in the Midwest (Indiana), it is not possible to get it there. What other possibilities are there? Thanks, Faruk

Sorry don't have the part number handy, but I have ordered one, will pick it up this Saturday. I can get you the part number at that time. Next week is important, going to try everything I know to make these beautiful seats work. It is probably my last mod for now, everything else is complete.

Any luck with the sensor part number? Did this help resolve the problem?

Sorry I have not been on here for a while. Nope it did not work, actually the shop did not try to use it at all after my getting it. Learned a couple of things though, there are currently three faults on my car, one for the passenger occupancy sensor and two for the head rest airbags. The head rest airbags are new to 2009, 2008 cars did not have it, so just the passenger occupancy sensor might work for that.

Those are not headrest airbags, those are active headrests -the headrests move forward in the event of a collision to reduce head whiplash injuries.

BMW is slow to catch onto this. They've been on the Mercs since the previous generation of E-Class rolled out.

Thanks for trying this. I was thinking of retrofitting the Euro seat bottoms to my M3 and ran into the same problem with regards to the seat occupancy sensor. I have not had time to actually order the seat covers to finish the project yet, but I think I might end up yanking the seat occupancy sensor out from the current seat cushion and retrofit it into the Euro seat bottoms instead.

These seats are no longer for sale. I have developed a Plug & Play solution for these, please see:
