No offense to any of you, but I simply don't get it. Perhaps it's just not my cup of tea. I suppose it's this way with any fan base of any series whether it be movie or television.

The only series that I have watched in the past few years is The Walking Dead, but only because the girlfriend enjoys it and honestly it's the worst shit I've subjected myself to. Terrible plots, even worse writing and WAY even worse acting. To me, all of these series, movies, shows, etc. are all geared on playing the emotions of the consumer in order to keep them hooked and continue to generate revenue. In closing, what does my opinion mean anyway? There are HUGE fan bases for these movies, people who spend lots of money on merch and in the end people making bank off of them and I'm nothing more than a lowly Project Coordinator who isn't interested in franchises or appealing to the masses, this is probably why I'm not rich.
not sure how being a fan of comic books/fiction means we're being "duped into the fantasy world." we're fully aware ironman isn't flying around in the skies here. lol

haha, ok. "enough time in our lives." dude, it doesn't require significant "time" to be a fan of Marvel (or any other comicbook based universe). you make it sound like it does. we watch the movies and move on with our lives.

Valid points. I guess what I'm getting at is there are people that allow things like Marvel movies to consume them. The friend that I made reference to in my original post talks about them constantly, quotes the movies and acts like everyone else is stupid for not knowing the quotes. I realize there are different levels of involvement pending on the individual and I also realize that I shouldn't classify everyone into the same category. My bad, I mean no offense.

it's really just about a passion; whether that be comics, action figures, cars, guns, sports etc.

I know plenty of people 'consumed' by sports.

I think it just comes down to people being passionate about something they enjoy; now the reasons why someone enjoys something can vary but does not change the fact that they themselves truly enjoy it.

For me that passion is cars for others it might be some collectable that's in its original packaging that they'll never play with; i rather whore my passion to it's limits. To each their own.

I'm with you and agree completely. I am beyond crazy passionate when it comes to things that I am into, so I can relate. I feel like Stan Marsh at the end of a South Park episode now. I learned something today.....leave Marvel fans alone! I'm kidding. You're right, to each their own.

LOL

I prefer to see it as a welcome invitation to a discussion rather than an attack. After all that is exactly what the forums are for; discussion.

I'm also pretty sure stan is still looking for the clit from years ago

Oh yeah. For sure man. There is no denying that. But I think the majority of the MCU fanbase aren’t that passionate about the movies or the comics like your friend. I would wager most don’t even realize how inaccurate the movies are. They’re just entertaining, and some of the stories aren’t bad in my opinion. But the friend you’re describing, I have friends like that. I ignore them lol

I’m not an addicted Marvel Fan but I will say their movies (with Disney) are pretty damn awesome!

Saw “Infinity War” this weekend and it did not disappoint!

Apparently it set all kinds of Box Office records.....very impressive

Fantastic movie. Not a single complaint. I even thoroughly enjoyed the ending. Thought it made for one of the most dramatic endings of any movie I've seen. Well done Marvel.

It was a really good movie. I would recommend that people going to watch this movie know about the previous movies at least. If you don't, its just another action film.

I did enjoy the comedy also within the movie a lot

The aforementioned friend that was discussed in previous pages of this thread came by my place last week and told me a little about it. He gave no form of spoilers which was nice as I'll eventually watch it, but he did say it was great.
