The filler is white, and not black like its written on the label inside the hood
So you can see a lot of white dots on the hood
And there is no way to get a perfect look by only painting the bumper and the hood.
The transition must be clean while painting.
You will always see the difference from the fenders to the hood/bumpers.
So I made my descision to say goodbye to matte black

How many miles have you run with this colour? Mine has about 23k miles (37k km).
My E46 330i convertible for example, had gone about 90k miles (145k km) than I 've let repaint the fenders, hood and frontbumper for the first time
IMHO, the quality of workmanship is better with the older models
If you have rock chips and scratches you will have to repaint the whole bumper and hood, my question is why do you think it won't be a perfect match if you repaint them? if you use the OEM frozen black paint you won't notice any difference with the rest of your car, I have painted my front lip several times and it is just a perfect match, you have to do it at a BMW body shop or at the body shop of your preference but using bmw frozen black paint code.
I bought my car brand new and only have 8000 miles on it, I take good care of it and it looks like brand new, see attached pictures, the front lip and rest of the car is a perfect match

You are the first owner and take care of the car
It looks awesome arty0030:
But if the preowner didn`t treat it well and gave a fxxk about the colour, that will make you sick
Forget it, you will see the difference
Have you ever looked at a brand new painted part of a car and the rest?
Yes, you can polish the whole car that everything looks fine

But by frozen black you can`t do this
You see every tiny scratch from machine washing

PS: Sorry, my english is not as good as back in school

Thanks man, sorry to hear that the previous owner didnt take proper care of the frozen black paint, I guess you didnt have any other choice, at the end it is what makes you happier what counts, get the new paint and enjoy your car! Post pics when the paint job is finished

Slowly it comes to an end:
the parts are all painted and the car gets assembled
A few small parts and gaskets have to be ordered.
Motoroil incl filter gets changed by Shell Helix Ultra 10W60, the brake lines get replaced by stainless steel brake lines
Evolve track pipes will also be installed, my new mapped ECU arrived last week

Maybe by the end of the next week, my car will be ready for the new season

I can`t wait to see the colour in pure sunlight

Well, for the licence plate I use the original bracket for the M3
After I`ve seen how people in the US mount their license plates, I realized that we do well with our big plates in Europe

Too bad that here many fans of the matte coatings don`t speak German
This article does exactly say the same what my painter already told me and why he does not like matte coatings:
http://www.gaebel-berlin.de/index.php/matt-lackierungen
Too many factors that are important to get the same look like the rest of the car
No chance to fix that

Still rainy weather here in Germany
It`s time for a roll-out with the new colur

That technoviolet is BEAUTIFUL. I like Frozen Black but I would never buy one. But Technoviolet just looks breathtaking on this car. Nice job!
