1st set was WPC w/ ARP bolts around 25k as this is when I purchased the car as the 2nd owner. I did them to have a clean slate of my own usage moving forward.
-Note:The birth bearings looked fucking terrible for so little miles. Even wear but wear at this level was shocking to see. 2nd set was OEM. Kinda fuzzy on mileage but roughly around 150,000 as I recall. I can’t locate my receipt for the work as it’s at my office. I hit a road deformity and it cracked my oil pan. Insurance handle the pan and supporting elements. I added the bearings on my dime as it was already torn down hence it was only $1,200 but with a dealer warranty. My local dealer performed this and they would only do OEM. Note:the WPC bearings had way more mileage and looked better than my original set from birth. When I hit 300,000 I will try and source WPC w/ARP bolts again. I do believe that diligent 5k oil changes and 60-90 second warmups matter. Someone make that shirt and give me one for the hot fire I just provided.

I think so. I had a 2007 335i and I loved it until I had to rebuild my turbos. Luckily BMW uses Mitsubishi turbos, so any Subaru performance shop can offer a billet rebuild to take TD03’s to TD04’s spec. Heat soak is what used to piss me off with my 335. This is where the M3 kills. Heat soak is not an issue unless on a 3rd or 4th heat at a hot track.

a yugo is probably more reliable than an n54 335i. if the bar I set at the bottom, anything will seem reliable in comparison.
from my experience my e90 m3 has been pretty good from 100-144k miles (how long ive owned) ive only had to replace a throttle actuator. got a used one for $200 on eBay and still going strong over a year later |

90,k maybe and for the cost of the car that’s unacceptable. Multiple fuel pumps. The N54 has the biggest gains for the cheapest costs but it’s not a work horse. It’s a light duty engine IMO. When all is good the N54 is a great motor though. All you need is an intercooler, catless down pipes and a jb4 to walk vette’s, M3’s, Cadillacs, Mustangs etc…..But don’t do it repeatedly or you will be left with speed blue balls and heat soak.
