I read one person refer to it as a “tanning bed on wheels”, which actually gave me a good chuckle. However, my daily driver is an F150 so this car is plenty quick and agile enough for me. Plus my kids love riding with the top down.

As far as I know, the only mod that the prior owner made is the M Performance exhaust. That V8 sounds amazing when it opens up. I plan on getting it tuned. Any other recommendations are appreciated.

I’ve been reading through the forum a lot over the past week and it’s awesome that there’s still a thriving community for this gen. Thank you to everyone that keeps this page going.
Congratulations on your purchase. If you haven't read these informative threads yet, I can recommend them. They're definitely worth your time as a new owner IMO.

Welcome to the E93 M3 club! I also have a 2013 and despite the extra weight, it is a very fun and capable car - top up or down!

Agreed! This car is so fun to drive! May not be as quick but it’s hard to beat riding with the top down on a nice day. Plus getting to hear that engine without anything blocking the noise!

The hardtop verts have pretty great balance with the top down imo. Definitely more suited to the turbo'd cars though.

Also, do a track day with the car, then you'll have pushed your M further than most people who say a 'vert isn't a real M 😜 I really do enjoy the drop top...a blast on the track and tons of compliments anywhere I go.

Do most track days allow convertibles? Hardtop up, I assume?

Depends on the organization. Hooked on Driving (nationwide) and Speed SF (CA- only) both allow convertibles with built in rollover protection. They said i could go top down but I don't want all that grime and potentially rubber or other objects coming into the car (or my head).

It needs cloth seats, manual transmission, single hump, and manual seats to be a M car. period.

That’s at the top of my to do list! A family friend just built a track up around Dallas. I hope to get out there sometime soon. The track record was set recently by a guy with an e92. Beat the owners Ferrari

Not sure why places wouldn’t allow a hard top. I could understand soft tops

I was just in Dallas and only knew of COTA in the area; would be fun to explore other tracks. 😎
