Bimmerworld asking for proof of track build for x-pipe order

I ordered the Bimmerworld catless x-pipe, and Bimmerworld called me today and asked for pictures proving my car was a track only build. Pretty annoying, is this normal? Has anyone else gone through this trouble?

Pretty standard. Anything that messes with emissions systems is now strictly for off road use only and federal law imposes hefty fines for companies in violation now. Been this way for a couple years, at least my tuner has been griping and warning about it for that long.

Someone should try and see how far you can get with this. I am not advocating lying but how can they really know the pictures you sent are yours?

Are you trying to get them to discontinue the products altogether? Like it or not, emissions related race car parts have become a very risky business to be in.

With this government, even breathing is getting risky.

I'd imagine it all depends on how much exposure businesses like Bimmerworld have with EPA and what sort of enforcement mechanisms exist today - regular joes like us don't work in the industry, so I'm not going to pretend to know all the behind-the-scene details but I'd assume that companies like Bimmerworld would be required to prove intent to follow policy by documenting their due diligence with the customer before selling potentially parts for non-compliant usage. Otherwise, they risk being in trouble with a federal agency, which is not something anyone would want to risk.

Full disclosure, I run cats on all my cars because I think it's just the right thing to do. But I won't argue on the internet about what you should or should not be doing, or encourage or disclose any fraudulent activities. I enjoy my liberties within reason

Somehow I think the vast majority of people in cities would prefer not to breath in high intensity NOx gasses.

I ran catless on a car about 20 years ago. It is not something I'd ever do again. All the fumes coming into the cabin and the whole rear of the car permanently stained black and brown from the exhaust emissions. It made me and my passengers miserable not to mention people around me who probably wonder what was making the smell.

Maybe a high flow cat but definitely not catless.

Absolutely not I think they should cover themselves nor do I condone lying. I was just curious to see how thorough of a check they actually do into this. Otherwise any bro on the internet could snag a pic off of google of an e92 at the track and claim it’s theirs.

I live in Florida and we have no emissions laws yet I still choose to run HFC’s. Mostly because I hate the smell but also because it helps tone the exhaust rasp/drone down.

The environment is polluted enough and being catless doesn’t help. That being said, I also believe you should have the right to do what you want to your car within reason. If that means cutting your cats off then so be it. Maybe pay an emissions tax or fine if you choose to do this.

An emissions tax to stay catless would be incredible. Considering we cause 8%-10% of the worlds total greenhouse gas emissions, while China and India are pumping pollutants into the atmosphere every second. But I digress

While it is true the pollution is there, the majority of that pollution is for manufacturing products which we consume. So the problem is not them, it's us.

I appreciate the responses you guys. I did some more research after posting this and it seems that the EPA is growing ever more strict with regulations, which is to be expected in today's 'climate,' ha! I'm going to purchase a used RPi GTM Race system on FB marketplace for less than the Bimmerworld X-pipe instead.

Not gonna lie, I sent them a pic of one of my friend's cars with a full cage and sparco seats, but after that they asked for a pic of the car "on the trailer I use to bring it to the track."

western countries outsource their industrial emissions to China and India. Steel bought by western consumers for example make up 10%+ of Chinas CO2e emissions. On a per capita AND on a per consumption basis, the US far outstrips China and India on CO2e emissions. China generates just ~7 tonnes of CO2e per person - far outstripped by the US’ 15+ tonnes. India is <2 tonnes per person. In terms of per capita and per consumption basis, the US lags far behind nearly every other country. For example, the US has notoriously one of the least reliable and highest CO2 intensity power grids in the world, at 380g CO2/Kwh, lagging far behind most 3rd world countries such as Bolivia, Argentina, Peru, the Congo, Pakistan, Namibia, Russia etc…

As someone who works in the power/energy industry, whenever I have to represent the US at global conferences… it’s usually pretty embarrassing. We often have to take notes on legislation passed by 3rd world countries for our own power grid and industrial emissions. China is actually much more strict on industrial emissions/toxin release than the US is (ironically 60%+ of these Chinese industrial emissions are related to exported goods).

All sounds familiar.

I provided pics of a “track car” on a trailer but I mistakenly neglected to notice the license plate. They did and cancelled my order.

Spent $800 more and had a custom one build locally. Im very pleased.

Off topic, but does your driver side primary fronts sit lower than the passenger side? Bimmerworld reason pipe is turning down a little bit is to clear the transmission cross member
