LCI tail light in 2008 M3

Hello Everybody!

I know there has been some discussion on the LCI couple lights fitting the older 3 series coupe tail. There have been discussions on price, plugs fitting, and potential software changes.

However, I stopped by my dealer today, and was told that the shape of the lights is different. The mechanic said that although they seem to be the same shape, they are not. The angle on the new ones, the curves, etc. are a little bit different. He suggested to carefully look at pictures online, but still couldn't find a difference.

Has anybody heard about this? Are the new lights different in shape?
Cheers,

CSL

The shapes are the same, and the inner (trunk) sections of the light are plug and play (not sure if they throw a code or not), but the outer (fender) sections have a different sized plug. LTBMW is looking into a conversion, and I'm hoping that BMW will come out with a retrofit cable shortly.

Nope, the inner shaper are NOT the same and require a new trunk lid. The outer lights are the same shape but require either a capacitor or a reflash or both depending on your LCM.

Here's what my 08 looks like now:

This conversation is about the Coupe (e92). I guess I am trying to do the same thing you did to your e90 M3. Looks great btw!

Best regards,

Shapes should be the same. The 335 guys are doing it already. Just gotta get the correct harness going.
