One year/22K Miles Accurate Gas Stats with Graphs

* My car is one year old today.
* Average 60 miles/day of 85% Hwy and 15% light suburban traffic
* Every single drop of gas was recorded on this app (even the first one from the dealer)
* It's funny I keep on recording since I pay little to no attention to gas prices (can't have a high revving V8 and let gas price spoil your enjoyment) I donno why I kept doing it but I may be OCD.
* First 5-6 months I was driving mainly on D setting then for the past 6 months strictly S3-5.
* Note how much gas I filled on July 7th when the car was saying 0 miles left.
I though this may be helpful to those who haven't gotten their M3 yet.
* The 2 partial fills in July and August are the only 2 from a gas station other than Shell, all others are full tank from Shell.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. So it looks like with D setting, achieving 18+MPG is not that far of a stretch.

I did the same thing for my Z4MC using excel. And now I'm doing it for M3 as well. This app looks cool though, I will try it.

On D setting and mostly hwy driving, sure 18 is plausible but for the past few months I've been on S4 and beating the car (shifting no less than 5K once warmed) now if I get 16 its a surprise.

with the engine now very well broken in, I'd be curious to see what you would get for mileage if you decided to do a tank on the D setting with a more sedate or "normal" driving style.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 20 MPG regularly if you did this.

I do the same thing and I'm not OCD...maybe

Averaging 19.1mpg on a 75% highway/25% city commute along with lots of other driving over the first 18,000 miles on the car. Sees >8000rpm on a daily basis. It's a 6-speed if anybody cares. I regularly average 20-ish mpg for a tank

That's awesome! I was thinking at first the gas mileage was getting worse naturally but it's good to know it's due to your switch from D to S3-S5!

I'm impressed that you were able to get 22,000 miles on your car in just one year! I just turned a year and have 5600!

She is my DD but not the only car I own. I just can't get myself to drive the other car (put only 1000 miles on it last year). I figured, what am I gonna save the M for? Better enjoy it.

It tells me exactly how much I spend on gas.

Isn't it addictive though. Every time I fill I ask myself why the heck am I keeping up with recording? Can't answer. And now that I made it for one year of diligent data entering I thought that's good enough but I'll be moving to Dallas area soon and maybe it's a good idea to keep on for one year in Dallas for comparison. See, always a reason to do it!!
