Yeah alternator has left me stranded in the middle of my morning drive to work. Pretty scary when it happens - all Christmas lights on and nothing works, no gearbox, no power steering, nothing. It's why I preventively replace my alt every 80k kms now.

I have a 2013 M3 6MT, daily this car even in the Michigan winters. Car has 78k miles, no issues at all. Just get a good set of tires and rims you don’t care about getting a little dirty and you’ll be perfect.

Current E90 has been my (and my family') only car since I bought it 9y ago. Hence its been my daily although since the pandemi its only driven couple of times a week due to a lot of home work. Only have 8-10 miles one way to office, if I had a long distance I would probably never bought this car in the first place tbo. Cause guzzler + not the type of car I want to wear down.

I bought my E90 M3 in June of 2019 with 84k miles on the clock and it has been my daily driver for the past 3.5 years with plans to go another 4 or so. It currently sits at 113k miles and I drive it 5-6 days a week and have been averaging around 8k miles a year.
I love the practicality of the E90 m3 as I drop our kids off at school and take them to various practices after. There are times when I think having the coupe would be more fun but having had a E92 328i before the M, I am immediately reminded the sedan is much more practical. It's been a pleasure to drive and a real highlight for me as a M3 and 911 were always my favorite cars growing up. I don't know if the 911 itch will ever get scratched but proud that I've gotten to own the M. I did the rod bearings within 2 weeks of purchase. Since then it has been quite reliable. I've had to do the following other than oil changes: Blower motor for the AC - 15 minute DIY Window Regulator for the rear passenger door - 1.5 hour DIY Fuel Regulator - 3 hour DIY I didn't grow up working on cars but am somewhat mechanically inclined. With the forums and youtube, you can find a guide for basically any maintenance project you need to do. And I think being able to wrench on these cars makes for a much more favorable ownership proposition given their age. Also given that some of the issues are common to non M E9X cars, there is a plethora of information and the parts are somewhat affordable compared to say a 911. Over the holidays I installed struts, shocks, and Eibach springs, and front control arms and although it took much longer than I planned I am happy I did the project and the car handles much better than when I bought it with 84k on the clock. |

I know not everyone has the means but getting a more focused, bespoke sports car like a 911/Cayman/Boxster (convertible even!) or Lotus for a weekend makes for the perfect combo when mated with the E9x M3 as a daily. |

Mine see's about 10miles a day, all city miles, I'd say I get to reach 40MPH max on my commute. Still love driving an M3 in Manhattan though.

I daily mine! Bought it in 2020 with 85k on it and its 135K now. 2010 E93 Manual.
I do about a 35 minute drive each way 3-5 times a week (speeds anywhere from 40 to 90mph). Also goes on long trips 3+ hours one way more than 3 times a year and to car meets nearly every Friday during the warmer seasons (no not those shit car meets with stupid people swinging their shitboxes, actual car meets for car people). On a cruise or two it has also seen its fair share of "spirited driving". The fastest trip on one of those sudden Mexico roads was 196mph with more left in it. The M-Tax is really REALLY REAL though, It has cost me MANY thousands to fix this thing multiple times. If I hadn't bought it for the price I did, it would be up for sale right now. 1 time my fault I confess, and the other 2 times stuff broke and broke other stuff with it just to add insult to injury and digits to the price tag. But even after all that. I love this car. There is nothing like dropping a hard top, dropping the music, opening the exhaust up, shifting down, and hearing a straight piped V8 scream to 8400 freakin' rpm (Alpine Stage 2 tune with raised limiter). If anything ever happened to it I would be absolutely devastated. |

This is my second e90 m3 and both were daily’s. In fact this one is getting about 1500 to 2000 miles a month now. Key is do the maintenance and you will have no problems.

Daily for the past 9 years, now at 147k miles and climbing fast. Most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Fuel tank breather valve when under warranty years ago and more recently Alternator and 1 throttle actuator has been it. (Knock on wood). Obviously running cost add up but if you can do some basic DIY stuff that will help immensely. Ground clearance in snow is the only issue for winter driving with proper winter tires. Michigan pot holes do make driving it a bit stressful since I moved here 2 years ago.

We bought Wife's E93 M3 11/30/19 with 31k miles and it currently has 80K miles, so I believe 50K miles in a little over 3 years qualifies. She recently retired from her job, so not going up quite as fast now. We also have an S2000 we bought in 2013 with 45k and its currently at 110K. Obviously not daily driver mileage, but almost all of it is driving to and from, and competing in, SCCA Autocross and track events.

Currently my 11 E90 is my daily. I put about 15 miles a day on her but once I get called back into the office it will be more like 40. I have 55K and no issues so far for the two years I owned her (knock on wood). It’s honestly a good commuter but I may look into something more efficient. I just don’t know what There aren’t too many cars out there that excite me( reasonably priced).

I would, but I drive about 40k a year and go to construction sites for work almost every day, so I need something with some off road capabilities. I’d rather just keep it nice and enjoy it when I’m not working. I’m planning on transitioning in to a work-from-home situation over the next few years, so when that happens I’ll probably driving the M3 more.

We bought our ‘08 E90 in late 2018 with 82k miles. Now over 152k miles, so ~15.5k miles per year.
Work, pleasure, road trips, track days. Rain, shine, snow, salt, and everything in between. We bought it after our first kid and shortly before our second, so we’ve had 2 small kids in the E90 a lot and been fine, including on long road trips (1 day drive each way). It was our only car until last August, when our schedule got more complicated and started requiring us to drive through an area with particularly bad roads and worse drivers. So, we have a second car now. Otherwise, the M3 would still be doing everything. Last edited by IamFODI; 01-29-2023 at 05:43 PM.. |

I daily my e90, DCT equipped, about 25 miles a day. Get around 17mpg and it’s city/suburban. It’s almost totally stock with EDC and ZCP springs. Rides great through rough roads downtown and the door door practicality with the kids is really why I bought it over an e92.

I daily mine. Just hit 120k miles. Maintenance is taken care of and she’s running great. Don’t buy into the fear lingering of people that have never owned an m3, they’re great cars. I have a DCT and my only complaint is the clunkiness in traffic (LA) other than that I love her.
