I won't name the tire shop. What are my chances they are going to correct their damage to my rims? All 4 are damaged. Scratched. Chipped. Gouged. They took photos and said their manager would call me back next week. Edit: What would this cost me if they tell me to go pound sand? What other recourse do I have?

If the tire shop is willing to help correct their mistake, you will likely have two options: 1) they will have the wheel rash repaired for you or 2) they will give you money and let you handle the wheel refinishing on your own. I would not expect them do anything greater than having the wheels refinished. They very likely wont buy you new wheels or anything.

If they tell you they will not help you at all and you are forced to fix this on your own dime, I suggest going to your nearest BMW dealership and ask if they have a vendor that refinishes wheels on site. Almost all BMW dealerships have a vendor on site that reconditions wheels. The vendor will sand down the curbed/scratched area, and then repaint and blend just the small area of the wheel that was curbed. Cost can range a bit, but I would expect it to cost $75 to $125 dollars per wheel to get them fixed. It all depends on if they want to refinish just the small rash marks, or if they want to repaint the entire wheel.

Either way, this isn't a major issue and more annoying than anything. Your wheels are a single silver paint color, which can be matched and blended quite easily.

Gotta be careful what tire shops you goto.

Very few are capable or have the right equipment to not cause damage to wheels.

Thank you both for the replies. The shop manager called back asking if I told the shop about the damage. I informed him that I didn't even leave the lot. As soon as they handed me the keys I looked at the rims and saw the damage. I told him the mechanic and the fella behind the desk saw the damage and took pictures. He said he would look into it and get back to me. That was yesterday morning. I'm pretty sure I won't get a call back. Guess I'll stop payment to the shop to try and recoup some of the the repair costs.

The shop has agreed to have a rim repair business they work with repair/refinish the rims. I was asked to leave the car with them for 24 hours at the tire shop. I'm concerned that they will do further damage unmounting/remounting the tires since they couldn't do it correctly the first time. Any thoughts on this?

The manager has not replied after he said he would get back to me with a time to drop off the car for repair. That was the middle of last week.

I didn’t look where you live but if they don’t act on it just fix it yourself and use small claims court to recoup. Last I used small claims court it was $15 to file and get started. It couldn’t have gotten above 30-50 bucks but ya never know with Bidenomics in full tard effect.

Same happened to me couple of years ago, all four 359s scraped. They where in very nice shape, my tire storage guy took them to another shop cause they had a better machine, unfortunatel rims still f@kked.
Although they suggested it wasn't them, they took the rims to a proper place (where I had them done earlier) and had them completely refurbished. All good, I hope you get sorted as well.

Ps. Funny side story. After my rims came back they accidentally put somebody elses worn out tires on instead of my brand new PS4s. Back to work again...😎
