Supercar = Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari 458 Italia, Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg, etc...
No way a Nissan would be included in a sentence with these cars, regardless of how fast it can be MADE to go. Any car can be made to go fast. In stock/OEM trim a Viper GTS would give it a run for its money and so would a Corvette ZR1, another fact and have seen it happen on the racetrack.
Well, were getting into terms tho. The GTR, stock performance wise is no where near in the class of an m3..it blows it out of the water as there is no comparo. Stock Performance wise its in the zr1, Porsche Viper etc territory.
The other cars you named have been dubbed "Hyper cars". (Bugatti, Koenigsegg--i dont put the Ferrari in that class tho).

In addition, numerous well known, competing magazines, Television personalities (Jay Leno, car nut has probably driven it all) call it that.

As silly as it sounds those are cars that are simply insane. Period. And OEM is much different than aftermarket. Plus, any car that does 0 60 in under 3 sec is just crazy.

Even if you're not a fan, the car is hardly a "joke". Do you think a 997 Turbo S with PDK is a joke too?
You're just a freakin troll. Why on earth do you frequent GTR threads anyway? If you hate them so much why not just avoid the topic?

997GT3 did you have a DCT M3?
I'm worried that once I get used to the speed of the GTR I'll be itching for something else. Which is what has happened with the M3.

Nope. SMG M6 and M3.
The problem with GTR is that if you get an itch for more performance it would be an expensive upgrade.

If you do get used to it, which is fairly difficult if you are not regularly tracking your car , it's easy to mod. A Cobb tune alone will transform the car quite a bit. There are good tuners with many options that can take care of you well beyond that point.

Please do not put the M3 in the same "class" as a Viper, ZR1 or even a 911. The M3 is an amazing car but it is NOT in the same class as a ZR1 (price or performance). M3 is the same class as the RS5, C63, CTS... OK, maybe a base 911/911S. The Viper and ZR1 are on a completely different level. Let's not get carried away here with badge worship here... the M3 is an amazing car but NOT in the same class as a ZR1, Viper or any 911 other than a base 911

This "sh*t" is of some relevance to many here. Many here are car enthusiasts regardless of brand and like talking about cars... any cars. If you don't like discussing cars other than the M3 then maybe you shouldn't visit the "M3 vs...." section of the forum where non M3 discussion occurs. Although I have owned 2 E92 M3s and have spent countless hours on this forum, I don't ever recall seeing a sign that said "Please no non M3 discussion" from the moderators.

So, not quite sure how this is "polluting" the forum when you can just choose to not click on the thread if you don't like thinking about, talking about, hearing about or looking at anything other than M3s.

Don't get me wrong, I love it when formal M3 owners share their reviews and opinions about their new non M ride. It makes for very informative reading. We are all car nuts here. My beef is with fanbois of other marques with nothing in common with us and have never owned an M3 going on and on about how superior those cars are and often putting down the M3. Many of these irritants are just here to stir shit and start flame wars. A total waste of bandwidth. I love these M3 vs threads minus the irritants. A lot of good info can be gained. Participation of irritants would just cause the threads to degenerate into name calling and lots of angry words.

Please feel free to report these types of users/members. Trolling is not tolerated and those types of members will be eliminated.

Also, this is a forum so debates and disagreements will occur. What we do not tolerate here however is debating or disagreeing in a manner that's disrespectful, insulting, or derogatory. If ANY member should resort to such things, it warrants infraction(s) and suspension. I encourage everyone to make use of the report post button if they should come across these types of attitudes and posts.

This is a totally different argument, but since you brought it up...

I'm not sure I know what the difference is anymore between GT's and sports cars. As is clearly evident from the community here, people use their M3s as GT cars, track cars, daily drivers, etc.

Considering the fact that I have owned an M3, M6, X6M, X5, X3, and 325Xi I guess I would not fall into the "irritant" category, correct? I'm hardly a Nissan "fanboy" I just have a problem with uninformed opinions on the GTR.

They do, quite a bit really. Look at the new 991. It's larger and has even been given an electric steering. In truth, it's not wrong to "mess with things" cos how else are u gonna justify producing the same stuffs in a new generation car? Nobody is gonna keep buying the same car esp after a 5 year gap between generations. Regulation changes also force the manufacturers' hands. Many blast BMW for abandoning high revving NA, but it's merely following regulations in emission and efficiency.

Wider car is a good thing. Electric steering... well it is not, but one review I watched (by Chris Harris) said the car had a good steering feel. Probably not as good as it could.

Regulation changes are just an excuse. BMW makes like 50 different non-M models and just a couple M models. They could keep NA engines in the M cars and still have a good fleet average.

You're right. Sports car are pretty much only in the exotic territory these days. Funny thing is there are people thing M3 is a sports car. When the E46 M3 came out, Tiff Needle said M3 is more of a GT car in his review.. If E46 is getting in to GT territory what is E9x, and what will F3x be?

Not every BMW, s1000RR

A z06 does the same, so I'm not sure why people act as if the GT-R is from space.

So who are these irritants you speak of?
Is it the guy who said "its still just a nissan." in THIS thread?
I find myself and a few others defending ignorant and uniformed comments about the GTR.
