► OEM 219 18" 255/40 Rear Tire Too Small ?

for those that have 255/40 winter tires on your oem 219 18s, how well does the tire cover the rim and does it look to stretched?

im asking because oem size for this rim is 265/40 and unfortunately blizzak doesn't make in those size.

pirelli does but i would prefer blizzaks over them.

i had 255/35 to fit on a 335 and it didnt look stretched
so you would actually have more sidewall height than these

I would run a 255/40/18 on a 18" wheel without worry.

I'm currently running this without any issue.....except for rubbing over big dips.

255/235 on stock 18 x 9.5/8.5 does seem like a slight stretch to me, but it is what I have been running for the past three winters. There is no longer any rim protection, so be careful parking next to curbs. I certainly would not go any narrower, because truly stretched tires would not have the squishiness that helps snow traction. I just did not want to buy another set of narrower wheels. This wheel and tire combination works fine and dry handling is acceptable (it is terrible with more serious snow wheels and snow tires).
