Cold starts

My car feels like I'm driving with the E-brakes on for the first 2 miles. Is this normal?

Make sure your calipers aren't seized?

Mine is a bit sluggish for the first little bit, but does not really feel like the e-brake is on. These cars don't feel right until they are warmed up; it's normal.

San Francisco is a lot colder than South Florida, so I'm not sure whether or not your experience is normal. I have no sense of a power loss at start-up, although I always refrain from revving the engine above about 4,000 rpm until the temperature is in the normal range, which means I am out of the real meat of the power band until then.

Doesn't sound normal to me...09 70k DCT with corsa exhaust

Engine response is a little jerky for me for maybe 2 min, maybe not even that..but nothing like the brake being engaged (and I have done this before on accident). This includes low temps you would never see in SF

Absolutely not. Something is very wrong.

I've driven my car during the MN winters before, multiple times starting it in the morning below 0 Fahrenheit. The car feels a bit laggy or hestiant for the first couple of minutes but never like the E-Brake is engaged.

sorry to but

Next time it's that cold, set a liter of 10w-60 outside overnight, or for a few hours. Then turn the bottle upside down. I bet you'll never drive your car in weather like that ever again. I tried that for grins a few winters ago and decided to not drive my car in the winter haha.

My oil report from that winter batch of oil came back just fine. Also, the friction on metal parts that cold is minimal.

Just try it! All I'm asking

I know you have an extra liter in your trunk, just turn the bottle upside down next time it's below 0F like you said.
