CCC to CIC Questions

Hi folks,

After several hours of searching this forum, I finally decided to pull the trigger on retrofitting my CCC idrive to CIC. I picked up most of the necessary parts, however I have a few remaining questions which I could not find the answers to:

1) Is the glove box USB connection necessary if I already have a USB connection in my armrest? I understand it's used for map updates, however can I not update the maps via DVD?

2) If I cannot update the maps via DVD and need to install the glove box USB, will I be able to update the maps on a retrofit? I understand a FSC code is required to update via the USB.

3) What is my best option for a CIC emulator? There are several options out their ranging from approximately $50-$400.

Thanks.

Looks like most of the emulators are not much different from each other. But would still appreciate some help with Qs 1 and 2.

Glovebox USB is necessary for importing music into CIC internal hard drive. So no it is not necessary. If you want it, it's a simple install. (1) wire and (1) USB jack. It goes from glovebox to CIC, so it's added in like 15 minutes.

We don't like the use of emulators and can activate your system to work without one Slightly more pricey but worth it for a factory fit.

Thanks for the response! Would definitely appreciate more info on why you don't like using emulators and what would be involved in retrofiring my CIC without it.
