MidLifeM3 That is awesome to hear as this is the route I will most likely be going. It's a street car with maybe 2 track days per year like you. Sounds like the perfect upgrade to factory springs and EDC shocks. I'll probably get camber plates and go a hair more aggressive on alignment. Figured why not since it's more of a weekend car than a daily.

Please keep us updated in a few months with long-term experience.

How deep down the rabbit hole do you want to go hahaha. But in all seriousness, depends. If your at 150k miles on factory components, perhaps a full overhaul including control arms, all bushings, etc. Otherwise, check the bushings while it's all apart and replace what is needed. Sway bar links are common. It's a very open ended question with an open ended answer.

I finally got around to doing the EDC reset today. I was at 190k miles when I replaced the shocks to the Bilstein. The reset did make a noticeable difference. I think it really should be part of the procedures in replacing the shocks, especially for higher mileage cars. Good luck!

Without reading this entire thread...

What's the consensus on using eibach springs vs factory Competition pack springs?

I ask as I have a comp pack car that's now 10 years old and I feel like a mild suspension refresh might be a good idea.
The car is for street/back roads and won't see the track - Stock ride height from the comp pack is perfect for me... just want the car to feel newer/better on its feet...

Thoughts?

*edit maybe wasn't clear - curious on the spring rate differences specifically and the ride height differences

Had the exact same concern when I got my E90. Wanted OEM+ suspension refresh with minimal lowering, so I got the Bilstein EDC/Eibach combo along with fresh strut mounts and hardware.

Car rides great, nice and tight without being harsh. EDC modes feel better than before when I was on stock shocks and H&R springs. However, it definitely gained some ride height in the front. Pretty much had no finger gap all around with H&R’s, but the Bilstein/Eibach combo jacked the front up 2 fingers (~1.5 in). Rear was not as much, went up like 1/2 a finger, so had some reverse rake going on. Found some E9x spacers for the rear springs (avail in Europe) and it leveled out nicely.

My M3 sits at 2-finger gap in front, and 1-finger in back. Pretty sure it’s stock comp pkg height. I know that’s too high for many guys here but I love it. Still looks low enough to me and I can roll over speed bumps and driveway ramps without wincing. The front fender naturally sits higher than the rear, so when wheel gap is equal all around there’s a pronounced forward rake. At least on the sedan anyway. That always bugged me with the H&R's…among other things. I've read that Swift springs work pretty well with Bilstein EDC as well, and possibly a tad lower.

Looks great chutak !

I always was advocate of B6 + EDC and always guessed it would be close to ZCP height. Do you mind measuring the bottom rim edge to the fender edge? This is how BMW measures ride height for front and rear.

Per BMW TIS
Front ZCP: 612mm
Rear ZCP: 597mm

I installed Bilstein B16 coilovers on my E92 M3 and it definitely is a little too stiff even with EDC off. I reset the EDC as well

This is a great thread and adding my experiences with the Bilstein B6 EDCs. Bottom line is DO IT! Slap on a mild spring if the ride height change bothers you.
