Can you use reward points for an entire purchase on shopamex.com, or only a portion of it?

haven't tried, but I believe you can buy the entire purchase with points. by the way, if you want to get more membership rewards points, amex has a plugin called insite that pretty much pops up when you're shopping and lets you earn points on your normal shopping. There's also a chance you can get 10k points for installing it.

my account already had it applied, but it doesn't matter. It sounds like there was an override in place. If you haven't gotten the points already, be prepared to fight a bit.

I noticed I had received the wrong value (as I mentioned above), called. immediately told I was screwed, even though it was already added. That's when I posted the above comment.
Talked to another guy (a very thorough fellow). he spent a good 15-30 minutes tracking through everything. He noted that I was promised to the 'upgrade', but that there wasn't anything he could do until the 8 weeks (or whatever it was) passed. He said to call back at the end of that period, and that it would likely have to be manually added.

He read the notes on the account, and said it should be added without a problem. We'll see...

Mine seems to say something similar. I have 20k points pending but when I called they said it will take like 4 weeks to post. I replied that if it's going to post 65k points, why would it say 20k? makes no sense. They said I also have to make the first payment before ANY points would be applied (understandable).

I actually received this offer from Amex in the mail. I called the other day to see why my points haven't been added. They told me i need to fax them a copy of the promotion because there are so many people trying to get this promo code applied to their card. I threw the letter out so now they don't believe i was one of the people who actually received this code. I get nothing because everyone is trying to ride this code out!!! Sucks for me!

There's nothing in the flyer saying you need to retain it, so they're being deceptive.

Well, looks like 75,000 points was a pipe dream. Even those who have been targeted are being denied in the hopes that they throw out their mail and can't prove they received the offer. They are not posting the 6661 points to my account because they claim I signed up through the application for 10,000, even though I used the link posted in the OP. It's pretty funny how they apply the code to your account and tell you when they should post, then a month later when you call to inquire again about the points, they just call shenanigans and say you weren't targeted. I hit $1,000 within a week of receiving the card and have since spent over $5k on it. Bunch of bullshit if you ask me.

I'm in the same situation as you. I spent my $1k right away because I went on a business trip and then I paid it off almost immediately. Now here is where it gets funny. I knew from reading this that I should give up on the 75k points and move on, but I have 3 direct mailers from them over the past few months that were for 50k points after $1k spent. So I call up and say I want that applied to my account. I find the code somewhere on the mailer and give it to them. The rep does some random stuff then tells me that she can't apply it because she doesn't see that I was targeted for that promo. I fucking blew my top on her. She says all she can do is open an "investigation" where someone will look into it and then would get back to me. I asked where I could fax a copy of the mailer to and she said I need to wait and someone from the investigation department will call me and let me know.

Well after 5 days I get a letter in the mail saying they couldn't verify me for that promotion so they won't honor it. I call back again and start to bitch out the rep saying that I have three physical copies of this promotion (I start reading her the thing word for word) and that I want my damn points. She basically told me that because of this whole fiasco with the 75K points all the agents have had their ability to add points taken away and everything has to be put in as a request. So she took down everything on the mailer for me, the code, the RSVP code, etc and submitted a new one. She said it could take 7-30 days before I hear anything back.

So at this point I'm just waiting, but I refuse to back down until I get my 50k points, and once I do I'm canceling this fucking card. I haven't even used it since I met the original $1k because I don't want to give them the business. Man this shit pisses me off.

Start filing BBB complaints people. My guy told me to wait till November 10th. guarantee once they reject me or try to 'placate' me I'll be hitting BBB and whatever other sites I can.

I mean, it's not like they've actually harmed me in any way. I use the card for transactions I would normally have paid cash for and racked up points in the process. They're also giving me $200 for free. In reality they don't "owe" me anything since I never received the 75k offer but they sure as shit disappointed me.
