New M3 Owner. Paid $5000 for extended warranty. Did I pay too much?

Hello,

I picked up 2012 BMW M3 Competition Package in Dakar Yellow on Christmas Eve.

This car had 24 000km on it and as I am planning on keeping this vehicle for some time, I decided to purchase Secure Drive extended warranty on the M3.

SecureDrive Mechanical Breakdown Protection - Elite Plan for $5000+tax upto 120 000km for 3 extra years

Basically this plan covers everything except for exhaust and emission systems, batteries, shock absorbers, MacPherson struts, clutch assembly, lots of other stuff.

I can't seem to find any other Canadian M3 owners with this warranty on the forum. Anyone with extended warranty can you share how much you guys paid for your warranty?

About right. I got a certified, added two years 3/36 total for about 5g

I think that's a lot. I paid $3200 for extended warranty on my 911 C4S.

But at the end of the day, it gives you peace of mind.

Thanks for letting me know. I don't know why but BMW dealership didn't want to sell me BMW extended warranty instead they were kept on pushing for third party warranty. I suppose they get better commission through third party warranty.

Heyhey, my buddy recently got a used Panamera 4S and he paid about 4K for extended warranty from Porsche. I think Porsche offer one of the best coverage. And thats why I am asking if I paid too much for my extended warranty

Afterall I paid basically 5K for 40 000km coverage.

If you invested that 5k yourself and when you are ready for it you would have been able to cover any repairs.

Hey,

We just purchased a 2012 frozen silver M3 with 25,000 on it. We also got extended warranty but for $2500. The dealer paid the rest, so we basically got a great deal! The total for the warranty was $5900.
