Car should never switch to manual mode on its own. It could be the top shifter unit has a problem. Send me another email we will discuss it further. |

Since we are discussing the DCT GTS tune here in connection with the Alpine tune, I wanted to mention that I initially got the DCT GTS tune with my Alpine stage 1 tune but did not like it (the DCT tune).
I had the DCT GTS tune on a previous ESS 650 M3 and it was a nice match, but on my current stock 2012, I don't think it pairs well with the stage 1 Alpine tune. First off, the car is sluggish off the line and my guess it's because the GTS software is for a much torquier 4.4 litre motor. I like to do "mini-launch control" which is MDM on (Euro version) and slam the throttle which with the stock DCT tune kicks the rpms up to around 3,500 and drops the clutches and the car takes off no wheel spin. With the DCT GTS tune this feature has changed and drops the clutches at a much lower rpm and the car has a much harder time accelerating hard from a start. As far as quicker shifting sure maybe the DCT GTS tune is a little better (sounds like it's shifting a little faster) but I can't see the difference in any of the vbox data that I have and that's actually what matters. So my DCT GTS software has been removed and happily back to stock.

Interesting.
I wish we could tweak details of the software, like default mode. Alex, it's probably posted elsewhere but is the DCT tune 100% OE GTS software, or have any parameters/details been changed? |

Read the DCT flash thread please. It has all the details. This thread is about the motor tune.

Jokes aside, that's probably the first time I see someone doesn't like the gts tune. Good point that it was meant for a bigger motor. But if I were to choose an automatic gearbox, honestly I would care more about quick shifts than a good takeoff. /end of OT

Interesting. I can't see myself owning this car without the GTS Update though. The car is just not smooth enough as a daily.

Another great experience with Alex,he took extra time and effort to code/repair my car that was previously jacked up by "expert" coders. Also have his stage 2 engine tune which rips. Thanks again Alex ,you are The Best.

Yes, this is another Alex@Alpinemss brag post/thank you post. I had a few free minutes and needed some gas so I took about a 45 min joy ride w/ the car. Took it on some fun country back roads and found myself on a closed course in Mexico...so what did I do? I tried the launch control for the first time. The car freaking rips...it lays rubber well into 3rd. Definitely not going to do that very often because I want my P4S's to last lol but man what a hoot. I have had Alex's stg 2 tune/Akra tune for about 10 months now. Perfect drive-ability, no hiccups, no issues, no problems at all, couldn't be happier. Well, maybe with an E85 tune.

I'm really interested in getting an Alpine tune with burbles on my car. Would any of you who have this tune be willing to upload videos of the burbles? I've heard some aggressive burbles online from another vendor so I want to see how this tune compares. Thanks!

Does the burble have any negative impact on the car? I know it was shunned on the n54 platform by mmp due to burble being bad for turbos. If we get it and we dont like it, is it easy to remove?

You get another map file for the burble tune so yes. If you don't like it simply switch over to one of the other maps you requested or stock 241E if the burble is the only map you have atm

Is anyone running the burble tune? I am but finding it quite random with regards to when the burbles appear. Tried going over 5.5k and letting it just decelerate but no luck. Any tips for those guys having success? Sometimes I get very loud pops

That's the thing so when I go higher up it doesn't work. For some reason I'm only seeming to have luck when I'm in revving it to 5k letting it fall slightly tapping the throttle again and then allowing it to fall to 3.5k to get any pops

In case anyone was wondering:
Passed emissions test in Maryland with the Stage 1 Tune if anyone has/had any concerns with regard to that. Car is otherwise stock.
