M Performance School Vehicles

Recently traded in my 2011 Melbourne Red M3. A few months ago I found out my car was used as a test car at the M Performance Driving School.

When I bought it, I knew it had been used as a "corporate car" but the history was clean, had great maintenance history and everything else checked out so I picked it up. While deciding to get a Denali 1500 or a 2013 M3 (last year of the E9X...) the GMC dealer mentioned their partner BMW dealer looked at the history of the car, checked out clean, but wanted me to know it had a "confidential" disclaimer (that I never received) the "vehicle was used at the driving center" or something along those lines.

Anyways, the Carfax showed the vehicle being registered in NJ and staying in NJ the entire time, so that's why I never figured "corporate car" meant M Performance Driving School car. But then doing some searching around on the internet, all of the photos of the school cars are registered in New Jersey with Jersey plates.

My question out of all of this is, why New Jersey if the cars are driven in South Carolina? Tax breaks or something there? Kind of random if you ask me and it's pretty far away.

EDIT: There were no problems with the car, it ran perfectly fine. Moving to Tampa and wanted to get rid of the 6 speed for something a little more "livable" in day to day traffic. Yes, so went back to DCT...

There a few like that in the UK...One of the very few UK engine failures was an ex corporate track car - sadly they are excluded from BMW warranty.

I think that's pretty shitty they didnt/will not disclose that it was a track car to a perspective buyer.

I searched these forums and I guess I'm not the first one this has happened to. I'm just glad there weren't any problems while I owned it. Rather while the bank owned it and I drove it around as I paid them back slowly. Haha
