M3 PDC, What it does and how it works!
I have a general question about the PDC on my 08 E92 M3, I have the PDC and am wondering if it only alerts you to the danger or will it actually apply the brakes as your about to hit something?
Appreciate your help guys!! |

PDC only tells you you're too close to something by a visual warning on the iDrive system and an Audible warning through the speakers. It does not apply brakes. It is a passive system. Not an Active system.

It goes beep beep beep...until you're within 1ft, less than a foot away it registers a solid tone. Braking is totally your call. I really like it for parallel parking in the city.

It's a warning system for when you are backing up to let you know if you are about to hit something.
-it only works when the trans in in reverse -it does not apply the breaks -it works just like sonar -your m3 prob only has rear pdc Here is more info from BMW http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...e_control.html

Thats what I thought.
I figured it's passive but for some reason I was about to hit something and my car just kicked out of gear, which confused me, did not hit it which is good. Thank you |
