Recent Purchase 2011 E90 M3

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Hi everyone,

I recently bought a clean title 2011 E90 M3 grey metallic on black with 120,000 miles in SoCal. It has DCT, convenience package, premium package 2, competition package, premium sound, power shade w/ manual side shades, cold weather package, and moonroof. All this for $24k. I want to get your honest thoughts on the purchase based on the history below. I've been a little paranoid since buying the car early March 2023.

History:

The car had 2 owners (MA and CA) and the 2nd owner (from CA) had the car for 10 years with ~110,000 miles driven. I have service records dating back to 2012 at the BMW dealer and an independent shop. He serviced the car based on the computer's recommended maintenance schedule:
  • regular oil changes (~10k miles),
  • brake fluids,
  • brake pads,
  • brake rotors,
  • spark plugs (~every 37k miles, last changed at ~118k miles),
  • transmission fluid only (@~50k miles and ~118k miles, no filter change),
  • differential fluid (~118k miles),
  • throttle body clean up (~110k miles),
  • idle control valve (~100k miles),
  • thermostat (~115k miles), and
  • air filters.
Rod bearings and throttle actuators have not been done. I am bringing the car to a shop for rod bearings motor mounts, and water pump along with drive pulley+belt. Prior to the purchase, the car had oil change, brake pads, and brake rotors beginning of March 2023.

There are blemishes on this car. On the exterior, there are:
  • curb rashes on all 4 wheels,
  • rashes on the right and left sides of front bumper (which was replaced due to damage, owner was not at fault),
  • front bumper slightly different color as the body (not too noticeable unless you're paying attention),
  • rock chips front hood and door handles,
  • small rock chip (~0.2cm) on front windshield,
  • dent (~0.5cm) on rear bumper,
  • dents (~0.5cm) on both sides of the rear quarter panels,
  • gas cap looks slightly different color (more noticeable than the front bumper), and
  • minor scratches to the clear coat

On the interior, there are:
  • driver side bolster is worn (slight loss of color),
  • squished bottom left bolster on driver side
  • "shinny" steering wheel,
  • left cup holder is stuck, and
  • leather seats look "shinny"

Thanks, my brother. I appreciate it. Maybe, I'm seeking an ego booster. Because I went all in and paid $24k cash.

Definitely. I own a 2013 BMW F30 335i and I have DIY'd nearly everything. It has 117k miles and still going strong.

Get the RBs done for peace of mind and enjoy! Price wise? who cares how much... 2 or 3k more or less you won't think about when you're driving through the canyons with a smile on your face.

True dat! Pay to play. I haven't driven the M3 since I bought it. I'm waiting to bring the car to the shop for that peace of mind.

Nothing wrong with that price at all. In my opinion these we’ll surpass the e30 price spike

Yes, sir. I did the service locally at MRF Performance based on BMW forum. I'm picking up my car tomorrow and was able to find a new bumper at the shop. It is looking quite slick now. The front that is.
