needs more tape.

Yeah if you're hitting 150 at the Ridge with our cars, you are COOKING into T1. 140ish was all I could pucker up for. I haven't driven this car at Pacific Raceways yet but I think 150 shouldn't be too bad there. What are the regulars hitting at PR on T1?

I put Stoptech street pads in because they're super cheap and actually have a really high temp rating. I emailed Stoptech a few years ago when I was getting a BBK for my WRX and they told me they're rated at 1300F or 1350F (I can't remember which). They're bite isn't real strong but modulation is good and they seem to do the job without any major fading or wear. Granted I didn't push them to their limits at all, because I'm sure the limits aren't real high as they're a compromise pad.

On the street they feel OEM except not as firm or grabby as stock. The stock brakes feel great on the street IMO but I didn't want to try them on the track. I don't know how they compare with dust yet. Ultimately if I'm going to do 3-5 days a year I really need to get a front BBK for better heat and wear management. Then I would feel comfortable hammering the brakes a little more. I found Stoptech ST60 380mm front BBK for $2500 and might go for that sometime this season.

The highest I saw indicated was 145, which may not have been my fastest as on my "hot laps" I didn't want to look down and miss my brake markers. The M3 speedo is generous, so that may be more like an honest 135.

I did cook my stock brake pads and rotors. Warranty took care of it, but maybe I was not being as conservative in my braking as I thought.

I should be there for the March 17th day too... I pucker up around 140 (GPS speed, not speedo) at T1 at Pacific.. any faster and I start imagining a rollover incident

A video my friend made:

At the beginning of the video you see a big dust cloud. That was me running a C6 Z06 off the track (he would not let me pass so I tailgated him for over half a lap for a point-by and he ran out of skill).

Here are two unedited videos from my car

I might not be back to Pacific till next winter..........there are better options going forward during the year. If I do it will be with different than Proformance. I don't understand placing cones in the middle of the track in turn 2, 5 and 8. That is exactly where I want to drive! Plus they don't allow passenger rides.

agreed the cones are super annoying and stupid.. I almost ran out of track once because I was trying to miss the blasted cone..

I really like how Tom Pritchett runs the turn 2 events - they are much simpler, effective and clean events.

Yeah I had a great time at Tom's event. Everyone knew what they were doing and no one was screwing around or getting bent out of shape. It was a very good group and I would absolutely run with Turn2 again.

nice.. congrats on the chump car thing... guy on my team at work was in chump last year.. said that he racked up major $$ in spend as the season went along (tires, suit, etc etc) even though costs were shared.

He recommends just renting a spot in chump vs being in a team..

im hoping its pretty low key we are only doing a few events i think 3-4 per year. if i need to get out due to expense i can at any time without having to find a new partner. not final yet. looking to just get some racing experience under my belt.
