Highest amount of miles on one tank...

Done a lot of very long road trips before but never had the guts to push it until yesterday. Houston to Austin and back in one tank. 327 miles. When I got back, I got 15.87gl fuel ( I don't top off the tank). I typically get fuel every 180 miles because... well the car has a small tank, I don't mind the mpg.

What's everyone else's average and maximum fuel amount?

The last time I made that trip I got gas at Bucees outside Austin on the way back. I didn't want to push it lol but the amount of gas I had left probably could have gotten me back

I've hit 600 km on a full tank on a long roadtrip before. Smooth sailing on a mostly flat interstate without traffic, of course.

I generally get around 250-275 a tank with a mix of aggressive driving around town / highway. How are you only getting 180?

I've done 400 miles on a tank pure highway with cruise at 75-80 without trouble.

I used to get 180-200 Max with 80/20 split City/Highway.

Clearly I'm driving this wrong. I definitely give it a push to the redline every drive. But I should be riding in the 6-8k band always.

Wait what... 400 miles? did you swap out the V8 with I6 or I4? there is no way i can see my car doing 400 miles. that means if you use every drop of gas in the car (16.6gl), and get 24.1 mpg. Must had 50mph tailwind

Perhaps a helpful tailwind was in play, but it's not a single occurrence. I've found you can milk miles if you keep tach around 2.5k rpm. Really only possible on the highway...

On long trips, conservative speeds of 65-75 mph I've gotten 23 mpg for the entirety of the tank, about 380 miles.

yeah, 400 miles on a tank sounds too good to be true with an E9X. must have been going downhill 80% of the trip.

24 mpg would be pretty good for 75-80 mph. Maybe on level ground. Maybe at more like 60-65.

Even if i left my car in neutral and was towed for 400 miles, I would still run out of gas. In fact, I know my car is sitting in the garage right now just talking small sips.

Lol! My 08 Civic Si does 350 miles to the tank (all highway, with the occasional downshift and open throttle to 8k rpm)

When I was doing autox test and tune events in my 2008 e93 I was getting 48 miles on a tank =) Needed to refill it twice in 4 hours.

On the track i got <90 miles, i know that it will consume crazy amount of fuel at high revs, but it is interesting to see that people are talking about 400 miles or close for one tank. May stick to the speed limit (75mph here) to see if i hit 350+. Not a fan of driving with empty tank, doubt its good for the car but curiosity...
According to fuel apps, i did get 23mpg once, but was driving from DC to Miami, didnt risk it, fueled up when the light came on... I dont trust the gauge too much
