It would have been one thing if he charged your credit card with the new price after he quoted you the old price and said "oh sorry the prices went up". That would be shady. You would have the right to be pissed and to flame away. Also, if Long had quoted you the old price and you ended up driving all the way to the shop for the install only to receive the bad news that the prices have gone up, yes that would be a reason to be upset. I would be furious since I took the time out of the day to drive there.

But what did he do? He called you as soon as he realized the mistake he had made and let you know. He tried to make it right by selling them to you at his cost. The only thing he charged you for was installation. Do you expect him to make 0 dollars off of you b/c of a simple mistake that did not affect you in any way? Did you miss out on a deal on the Clubsports during that 5 day period when you thought you were going to get them for $2500? I'm going to guess no.

I understand that it sucks that you thought you were getting clubsports for $2500 installed. I don't think any vendor will be able to sell them to you at that price or even close to that price. But if you think about it, it was a simple mistake and by no means does it show you what kind of business LTBMW runs. With all the facts out there, I don't understand how anyone can agree with you other than the fact that LTBMW quoted you the wrong price. Maybe he hasn't sold a set of clubsports since the price hike which could explain why he quoted you $2500.
agreed. i can understand the op being upset and feeling like he was being lied to. but after the explanation from the vendor, that doesn't seem to be the case. perhaps instead of saying there was a price hike, the vendor should have stated that he made a mistake and quoted an old price from a month ago. and now the best he can do is $3350 (or whatever it was) installed.

i think this was more a matter of mistakes and miscommunication and not using the right choice of words rather than shady business practices. like others have stated, at the end of the day no harm was done to either party. but the vendor did man up and try to make things right.

Having worked with Sasan and Long I know for a fact that both are good guys and hardcore BMW enthusiast so it's sad to see threads like this.

I personally have had some KW Clubport pricing issues that lead to some embarrassing price quotes. The KW price list is horrible to say the least when it comes to the EDC vs. non EDC kits. A few years ago when we would order "KW Clubsport with EDC" the kit would come with the EDC delete units for the same price as the kit shows on the price list. Now you have to take the price of the Clubsports (even though the price list says -"M3 (E90/E92) equipped with EDC (Electronic Damper Control)" and add the EDC delete units to get the total price for the kit.

The "bundle" options does not have Clubsport listed-
M3 (E90/E92) equipped with EDC (Electronic Damper Control)
Sedan, Coupe (bundle: EDC disable unit 68510119 is included)

At the end of the day I hope that you guys can work this out and move on.

I broke the price out to you and you were already furious with the price increase. How was I suppose to go about it?

We can go back and forth on this and it will not go anywhere. It's basically your way or the highway. My price to you is $3368 installed with EDC with multiple adjustment. If you can find a better deal anywhere posted online that include install and multiple adjustment, please let me know.

I will hold this pricing for you for a week. Think about it and let me know. No hard feelings here. I just want to make it right.
This makes a lot of sense. Also, isn't this new price still like $400 below other vendors price for the coils alone (no installation)?

At the end of the day, OP, he misquoted you and nothing more. He fessed up to that and is still offering to work with you and give you a good deal despite the fact that you've been somewhat unreasonable (IMO).

+1 on LTBMW being a bad shop. I had my Vorsteiner diffuser installed by them and it kept falling off. In the end, I had to go to another shop and pay for the installation again to have the diffuser stay on completely. Long also broke a promise to me when I was shopping for an exhaust, which I don't want to go into details.

Don't go to LTBMW unless you want cheap work on your car.

For everyone to think LTBMW is not a shop to go to get work done, that is a shame. We have great prices, great workers and the environment here is more than just a customer to business. It is one enthusiast to another.

I thank the guys for the support. Without you guys, there is no LTBMW.
I feel like if a shop makes a quote, they need to stand by it and swallow the loss if there is one. All we have to rely on is what you tell us. $2500 is a good deal and I'm assuming that's why he came your way, YOU MADE THE MISTAKE, NOT HIM and explaining why there is an $800 discrepancy DOES NOT absolve you.

Stand by your word

So you were shop hopping and calling around for the best possible deal, and demand that they install for free, and do multiple adjustment to your liking?

If I were LTBMW I would have moved on a long time ago.

just so there's no confusion about it:

LTBMW was my first call to price out the clubsports. the price and installation he offered me were without any haggling whatsoever. they were his first and only quote.

my problem was not that he had made a mistake, people make them. and even though his explanation was suspect i still agreed to the price increase. though long and I will disagree on this, the issue for me was not making good on the promise of free install.

now all that said, I want to put an end to a lot of the bickering on here and announce that long and I have been talking in the background to see if we can come to a tentative agreement. I will keep everyone posted as to what the final outcome is.

So the quote below is a lie? if so wouldn't you have said so on the first page?

Either way... hope you guys get it figured out so you can clear it up and let everyone know that LTBMW are good guys.

Sasan, failed to mention he got pricing from another vendor for $2400. I did my calculation and told him I was able to do it for $2500 installed. The install fees were added to the total price.

Wait.... since when are installs free..? and since when are KW CS $2500......... wtf? I never knew they were ever that cheap
I'd much rather get Motons....but $2500 is dirt fking cheap for coilovers, installed or not installed.
Wth...if they were that cheap before the price hike, I should have bought a set. Damn...
3k still isn't all that bad for the CS though

On a more thread related note, I used to have Long work on my 335i.
Never really had a bad experience, and the prices were good. He helped me out late at night before he had his shop, great guy

I've also met Sasan in the past and talked to him via text a couple of times, sounds like a nice guy too.

Sounds like a bit of miscommunication. Hopefully everything works out between the two of you.

often times in my experience vendors have discounted or "free" rates on install when you buy a product through them. they make money on the product as they get it from the supplier at a discounted rate.

hope the OP can get this worked out. Tough situation, but IMO at the end of the day dont make a quote unless you are going to stick with it.

The price should have been checked by the vendor and if the guy agreed, the order should have been placed immediately. There is no way that the price could have increased in that short of a time between those two events.

Anyway, best of luck on this one.

Actually I asked a couple people as well, and there indeed has been a price hike in KWs
Not sure exactly from when to when though

Update

Long and I have been discussing this in the background. And I just want everyone to know that we've settled our disagreement entirely.

We made a compromise and met somewhere in the middle - which is always the best way to do it. I do want to take an opporptunity say that Long went out of his way, even by taking a loss, to make this deal work, and that goes a long way with me. I really appreciate what he's been willing to do. We've put all our past disagreements aside, and I intend to have my KW Clubsports installed by Long and LTBMW next Saturday....

....which is coincidentally the date of a huge LTBMW meet. I'll be attending that meet, as a show of our reconciliation. Should be about 200-300 cars there.

For those who want to stop by and check it out, here's the link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=632374&page=8

I will update everyone one final time after my install is complete. I'm glad that Long and I were able to resolve our problems and it looks like we're going to see the results of that very soon.

So you throw LTBMW under the bus to get your way, and weren't happy til you got your way. Now that LTBMW agrees to a deal and loses money you post up that you guys have come to an agreement?

Sounds like LT got the short end of the stick and now you'll be attending his meet? What a joke...

what i am saying is that the price should have been checked, and if the customer agreed, the order should have been placed immediately.

so there would be no time for the price to increase in the mean time.

Elementary, you're doing a lot of instigating in here, especially for a person with an 83 post count. Since you're so eager to start a fire, why don't you tell us all what it is that i did that throws anyone's reputations under the bus? Telling the truth, or giving a factually accurate recitation doesn't count. If i had made anything up, that's one thing, but looking at long's posts should make clear that I did anything but that.

Long's and my dispute is finished, as I'm sure Long will attest to if need be. That simple. The only one injecting any drama here is you. I'm sure you can find more productive things to do with your time.

Esquire, since you were able to resolve this with Long, I think you should update the initial post so that folks who read this know upfront that you settled and that Long went out of his way, and I think, above and beyond by taking a loss to keep you as a customer. I have never dealt with LTBMW, but I have read enough threads stating they are legit and this thread proves that yet again. Do him a solid and fix your initial post.

Ive dealth with long so many times in the process of 4 years...he did a lot of stuff for my 335 and minor things for my m3 as well. I think you put the guy under a train if you ask me. He couldnt do it for that price he couldn't. What part of he made a mistake and there was a price hike could you not understand? Its normal people make mistakes. Just wouldnt do it that way, nor go as far as putting your story here. The man has such a good reputation, always gone out of his way for me. Ive even been to his house at times around 9PM for him to take care of things.
