i agree that if they had a wavier for legal purposes of protecting themselves as they have done off road only modification to an 'on road' car would be ok. But they specifically stated that they will not back any problems in the future. Doing an ECU reflash would leave you out alone as the dealership wont back you up anymore. But the least they can do is back their own products up. The wavier itself doesnt bother me but more of the contents of the waiver. So by doing an x pipe from lets say aa, if i ran hi flow cats, i would not need a ECU reflash right? and what if in the future i wanted to go cat less, is there anyway to just empty out the high flow cats and make it cat less? want to weigh my options man. AA and encore are definitely looking like good options. Just dont know if i'm willing to do an ecu and loose my warranty. As that could cause a huge problem if *knock on wood* anything happens. With the economy being this bad in this present time, having to fork out money to repair the engine will probably force me to eat the furniture in my apt now. haha. as mcdonalds would seem too much of a premium for me then. haha.

I see your point, but I honestly would not expect for most tuning companies (unless its DINAN or ACS---big $$$) to really cover any damage done to the engine by their tune. On an N/A motor it is rare for any reflash to cause major problems (atleast I havent heard of it) and if they do I doubt they will cover the cost over a major failure (could be wrong) I would bet they would try to get the dealer to do it then if they refuse MAYBE pay for some of the work. I would bet you would be w/o your car for many months.
I usually dont base my mods on what a small tuning company tells me they will cover. Its a risk to do it. I wouldnt do the flash expecting full coverage from any company...especially in this economy where who knows if the company will be around next week. |
