Am I being too paranoid?
Hello everyone, so, recently I purchased a used e92 M3 with 31K miles from a local BMW dealership. The car drives great and pulls hard; however, yesterday I noticed this scrape on the lower part of the front bumper, which looks like the previous owner had misjudged a curb at one point or another. I double checked the carfax report (just to see if I missed anything) and it is 100% clean!! Am I being too paranoid or should I make any effort to raise a stink about it? Forgive me if this is a stupid question; I get pretty paranoid when it comes to car purchasing.
Thanks everyone |

Not much you can do at this point. If it bothers you, you'll just have to pay to have it fixed.

Put some 22s on it, lower it like 8 inches to completely destroy any handling capability, then do a photoshoot and post in the Media section of this site for "looks tite yo" +1s

And get comments like "tastefully modded". At least one person will say it, however far of from the truth.

in CA if the damage is less than 750 per occurence it does not have to be reported to the DMV. But nobody tracks the number of occurences so technically you can have a car with multiple damages of less than 750 each that can total up to a reportable value that does not show up on the carfax.

I have scrapes on the bottom of my front bumper. this is from low driveways and ramps...normal if you think about how low the car normally sits.

It takes up to 18 months for things to hit CarFax in some cases, it isn't the end all, be all. A good inspection of the vehicle is up to you, not the internet. I scraped my front bumper with less than 2000 miles on the car, it happens...
You will forget about it eventually. I did...

Pretty much every used M3 out there will have similar scrapes on the bumper. So to answer your question, yes, you are being way too paranoid.

This thread would make sense if you were "about" to buy the car..but you "already" bought the car..so what exactly are you hoping to achieve..raise a stink with the seller?
Are you expecting the seller to refund you money or something (not likely) the time to have addressed this would have been prior to buying the car not after. As others said, either live with it or fix it |

As others have said, you already bought the car.
I don't know if the car was purchased certified. But even if it was if there's no damage to any panels or any paint on any of the panels there may be scratches and scrapes that will not raise a flag when getting a certification. It's you responsibility to check the car before you buy it and drive off the lot. It's a used car, there will be imperfections that you will have to accept. |

OP, whenever you find an M3 crawl under it (preferably when it's not moving) and check for scrapes on the underside of the front bumper. I believe most will have them.

Ya mine looked nice, then I peered under the front bumper and it looked like a war zone.

There are only two ways to avoid scraping your front bumper:
1. Don't drive it 2. Drive a SUV/Van/truck I would put those thoughts behind and enjoy driving the car. Those light damages don't affect the safety or performance.
