Some say, he once considered donating his left kidney to optimize corner balancing and weight...

All we know is, he's M3Post's roastbeef

Have you considered cross-drilling those bolts for additional savings?

No bolt drilling yet, but I've replaced bolts that were put on the car that could have been shorter. The only reason they were on the car was they were the same thread. The correct length while being replaced with titanium increases the weight savings. A happy bolt should be nice and snug without excess thread. And 1/2 depth nuts when available.

Another fun project has been lightening up the windshield washer assembly. I'm waiting on a deal for a drill press so I can make some cleaner holes. I bought a spare assembly and wipers in case I screw up. I already traced out the holes and checked all the threads for a titanium hardware overhaul. I also plan on drilling the structure of the oscillating wiper assembly.

I located titanium springs that were for a triumph motorcycle kick stand and modified them to work for the washers. Saved a whole ounce on the springs alone.

This project will take some time as I find time in the garage between work and other things.

Silliest thing has probably been the fuel pump controller bracket (I think that's what it is). It's already tin. Probably made from leftover rod bearings. Titanium nuts for this bracket will be in the mail soon.

Are you not entertained?

How did I miss this gem-of-a-thread? LMAO!!

I see that the forum likes its Beef roasted!
I commend your weight reduction efforts,
love my ///M to bits but it's a heavy pig compared to the 911. Speaking of which, I see that you look up to Linton on the Rennlist forum. His weight reduction thread is on another planet!

Good luck and continue dumping as much as possible!!

Can you post a pic of your battery Velcro setup? I have been considering that too, buying a giant bracket doesn’t make a ton of sense for something so light.

Btw, you’re completely insane and I love it. Has your S/O perfected the eye roll when you tell her what you’re going out to the garage to do? Speaking from a wealth of experience here.

I lined the bottom of it with adhesive backed Velcro so it won't slide, then I fed a Velcro strip under the battery tray and cinched it down. The straps were from Home Depot and are perfect.

It came in a two pack. Pm me your address and I'll send it to you.

And yes, mrs beef reminds me I'm an idiot almost daily. She saw me fooling around with a drill with some car parts and told me, "drill a hole in your head." Something like that.

Be honest: did you consider it?

Your bones are heavier than carbon fiber equivalents. I suggest you get a CFRP transplant surgery.
