Seems like you saved yourself over $1000 on that deal.

These clutches go forever. But they just do keep getting louder, and louder when not engaged. My drive shaft has been replaced , but not my clutch + flywheel.

I do need to replace the driveshaft in my e36. If you know anyone local that has one! I’m right in Derry NH

If it’s loud when not engaged, it may be the throw out bearing.

I don’t know of any E36 driveshafts. I use a one piece chromoly after breaking 2 stock shafts (turbo S52).

I don’t think they would have sold you the genuine BMW coils for $80 price they had listed. I think they made a mistake somewhere.

Just get them from the NGK website.

Post a picture of the top. And labels.

Not trying to be Debbie downer. Usually shiny plastic means Less quality. Hopefully they work great for you though.

Report back after installing.

Just checked the NGK website.

Entered the part number. And it says the coil packs are now on “national back order”

Very careful and patient shopping plus some luck. I bought the clutch kit during an ECS clearance sale and the flywheel new from some one who bought one and the sold the car, long before I expect to need a new clutch and flywheel (I have an 08 so I need the updated flywheel and can’t just replace the clutch).

I have a question, I bought 8 NKGs at the cheap price, then they all went on backorder. I was only shipped 7.

I am waiting for the 8th, but would using one OEM one in the mix mess things up? I dont need to do it so I will most likely wait but I am not sure how long.

My 335 was supposed to go through coils and it didn't. My M3 has over 220,000 and I'm on (8) OG coils still. I do plugs every 50,000 FWIW.

NGK indicates they will have stock coming in at the end of this month. The also explained the BMW branding on NGK packaged coils people are getting- on coils that they have not tooled up for yet, they utilize the OEM part until they are tooled up and manufacturing the non-OEM branded coils. I'll update the thread when I receive confirmation NGK has stock again.

My 8th one came in last week so that seems to be correct.

Rockauto seem to have some again. I finally got 8 from between various sources, 4 from NGK 4 from Rockauto. Wasn't easy, kept checking. They are all NGK BMW branded ignition coils.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have been watching this coil supply issue for some months - does not seem to be getting much better.

Does anyone have a line of supply for cost effective coils?? Even used one's seem to be selling for extremely high prices (imho).

My local BMW specialist said the ONLY decent quality coils they can get now is OEM only. BMW are the only one's with any stock apparently.

Be interesting to get updated feedback on this coil supply issue from all on the forum.

Does not seem like a temporary issue anymore if you ask me?

I would hold out for the NGKs.
U5118 if I remember correctly. The stock has been hit or miss for probably the last 1 to 2 years. I’d continue to check rock auto who occasionally gets inventory or join the back order from NGK directly. The last NGKs I received were stamped with the BMW roundel. I wouldn’t run any of the cheaper options. Good luck.

So the NGK coils are also manufactured by Eldor? Which means they're just rebranded Eldor coils?
