I have done 4 EDs and all of them around October thru November. I remember that I have hit snow up in the Alps but not enough on the road to accumulate, just drive carefully and you won't have any issues. Never rented snow tires and I won't be renting them this time either for my October 17th pick up of my 2012 E92 M3. I am heading north to Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. I am not worry about it. If I would be doing ED by the end of November and December I might considered.

Except I think I'm going to Fussen, instead to Innsbruck. I'd definitely be interested in hearing more about your plans as well. Feel free to PM me, or just post here with your itinerary.
Hey Sam, my planning is still in the early stages but this is a preliminary thought at a route. I was actually planning on avoiding Stelvio for fear that it could be closed that time of year.

We're flying over to Munich on October 15th, picking up first thing the morning of the 18th, and our flight back is out of Munich on the 26th.

Going to try and finalize plans this coming weekend as well, and figure out hotels.

I'm just a sucker for mountains so I wanted the trip to wander through the Alps as much as possible.

I have also heard it's German law to have M+S tires from mid October to March. Potentially you could be cited and fined. In case of an accident, you will be found at fault and ED insurance will NOT cover you.

As one poster already mentioned it's about the temperature not necessarily the snow.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have decided that I will plan to drive my car while in Germany. I have booked my flights and will arrive Munich Saturday October 22nd and will depart Thursday October 27th. I am currently scheduled to pick up my car early Monday morning. I am still finalizing my itinerary but I am leaning towards renting winter tires while I am there. I don't want to take any chances with my new car.

Thanks again for your inputs.

M-Individual options are special order options that you order when building your car. I learned about M-Individual options from a friend of mine who is also a member of this forum and ordered his car with M-individual options. There are non-standard exterior and interior color combination and I believe other performance enhancements that can be ordered.

I worked with my CA to place my M-individual options. As mentioned in this thread adding M-individual options can extend your delivery date by 6-8 weeks in most cases. Prior to adding my Individual options I was given a delivery date of August 29th. After adding my Individual options my delivery date was pushed to October 24th
