Hub Center Bore Questions - off by 0.5mm

I have a set of 19" wheels with a center bore of 73.1mm...OEM is 72.56mm.

I can't find 73.1 to 72.56mm hub centric rings anywhere except eBay. I bought them and they didn't fit. Do you think I will have issues running the wheels as is? Mainly concerned about damaging the hub or being dangerous.

Appreciate all of the help!

You need a hub centric spacer to run those wheels. The weight of the car rests on the hub

Have the wheels bored out maybe?

74.1mm is a more common size because E39s came with that size, so you'll likely find hub rings easier.

Thanks everyone. So I risk damaging the expensive hub if I run the wheels is what I am guessing?

Can Tire Rack or Apex Race Parts chime in as well?

Anyone else? Trying to find someone who will custom make plastic rings for me, as the aluminum ones keep bending in the mail...

0.5mm is such a small width no one will make that for you
Only option is to get custom spacers that match the hub bore and wheel bore
Either way you are overthinking this

You could get several .010 feeler gages (two per wheel). They are very flexible and will fill the little gap for you. It might be tricky to get them in there, but can be done with a little ingenuity. It's not ideal, but better than nothing. There will be no material that will be significantly stronger at that thickness.

Or find wheels that have a hub bore that it correct.

GL!

Thanks for the responses. These are just holdover wheels for now. Just waiting for Apex wheels to come back in stock!

For driving on the street, a non hub-centric wheel will be okay. For track use I'd strongly recommend using only hub-centric wheels, otherwise instead of the hub bearing all the load, it's going to be on your studs/lugs.

Duct tape once around on the protruding hub lip. Done.

Bore it out to 74.1mm, no it will not damage the wheels or cause an issue with the structural integrity of the wheels. Then run 74.1 metal hub-centric rings to 72.6. I've done this with wheels in the past, and it was not an issue at all.

Alternatively, you can use Plumber's tape wrap. Duct tape might be too thick depending on the brand you use. With the plumber's tape, you can create enough thickness when you mount the rim it will crush to size.

These cars break a lot of studs/bolts on track.

I've decided I'm either going to wait for the black Apex EC-7 (9.5x19 F, 10.5x19R) or go with ESR RF1 in the same specs. Both 72.56mm center bore.

You might have some issues running the wheels as is. If the center bore is off by that much, it could damage the hub or be dangerous. You could try https://hubbore.com/ to see if they have any hub centric rings that would fit your wheels.

You can also bore the center out and have the shop press fit in new center rings.

This works, also. BBS uses a 82mm bore with 72.56 PFS adapters for most current/modern BBS wheels.
Adapter rings are not a problem as long as they are machined properly and tolerance is accurate.
