Link? I did a search and found negative comments.
Also, I'm trying to get the latest controller and still be able to use my M mode configurator in the iDrive settings. |

there will be negative reviews on everything, because no 1 product satisfies everybody. But if you want a cost effective way to upgrade from the horrible pre-lci i-drive, AVIN unit is a nice upgrade. it still allows you to switch back and forth from the i-drive menu to make adjustments...

i want to say the controller is an easily upgradable item (PnP?), but others here will know better than me.

Curious, why retrofit? Does anyone use CIC navigation?
Regardless of map updates the interface is so clunky and less responsive than modern Waze, Google, or Apple on the phone. Aside from Apple/Android car play integration, is anyone using these features in 2018 cars? Pretty much every new car Tech package is still light years behind a basic cellphone. I get it's nice to have it on the screen, but I'd spend the money on preventative maintenance, performance upgrades, wheels, or new seats for that matter.

agreed with DRLane , I went back and forth because I hate CCC but instead I got myself a nice magnetic phone mount, a decent charger, and a bluetooth receiver, and I mapped the shortcut on the steering wheel to turn the CCC screen off. I only use it for settings when I need it.
CIC is not a big enough of a feature upgrade for me to change. |
