Increased battery discharge, on a new battery??

*2008 E93 M3*
Hey guys so recently I got an increased battery discharge on my car so initially I replaced the battery. Today I started the car and drove it to San Francisco and then I got a bunch of random lights popping up and "increased battery discharge" again on the new battery! Idk what the hell is going on lol. Are there any good tests you guys have used to check if it's a bad battery or alternator? Please let me know, it's my daily driver haha. Thanks guys! Also if anyone has experienced this please let me know!

You do need to "register" it. As others have said, if the problem persists it could be the EDC module staying on.

Thank you so much! Do you know any tests I can run before completely buying the whole module? And where it's located perhaps? I appreciate all the help.

If you don't register the battery the car isn't going to charge it properly and you'll be seeing the warning again soon.

I see . You should also buy a CTEK battery tender .

Check the pics from my CTEK in action here in # 26 => http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...1#post15488771

"Increased battery discharge" should mean that there is something drawing a current that shouldn't be while the car is off.
The edc module, not shutting down, was sometimes the issue

This error shouldn't mean that the battery is old and needs replacement.

Just registering shouldn't do much for this problem.

Any chance you connected something like a dash cam to the car that pulls some amperage while the car is off?

This is a generic message telling you that your battery is low. I get it every winter when I park my car and don't drive it for a while. This year I have a spot where I can plug in my battery tender so I'm expecting not to have that problem...

Replaced my battery maybe a year ago and coded it in. Two weeks ago I got battery discharge warning and my car lost power. AAA jumped me and I dropped it off at the dealer. "Nothing wrong but we coded your battery again for you". A week later and same discharge issue. This time my dealer is replacing my alternator as they say it's dying. Seems like turning the car off for a couple minutes and restarting the alternator kicks in again until it dies because in my case 179,000. Just food for thought OP.

Do you know how they diagnosed it to be alternator if the alternator would work fine when you start the car (You can see that when Battery voltage goes up after starting the car)?
