G20 M340i - So much better than the F30!

Hi all,

I got an gorgeous blue M340i as a loaner when my M3 was in for service. I've got to say that BMW's got its mojo back! Here's my lengthy review of the M340i, but I'll share of the key insights below.

The F30 3-series was always a bit of a letdown for me, too synthetic and remote. I much preferred the sweet NA six-cylinders from the E90 generation and their hydraulic steering.

The current G20 M340i's ride and handling are as much fun as the earlier 3-series, and the punchy B58 engine outpaces the E90 M3 and gives me options (to misbehave) that the S65 never did. With the excellent handling balance and oodles of torque, the M340i strikes me as the luxury sedan counterpart to a Camaro SS. I mean that as high praise!

My only significant gripe about the M340i is that BMW still doesn't send good steering feedback through its electrically-assisted steering racks. Otherwise the M340i was a complete hoot while I had it, and I'd love to flog one on a race track or at a drift day!
