Suspicion

I think we will get the price announced at the show, publicly or perhaps leaked.

Reasons:
  • Almost every other country on the globe knows their pricing
  • NA dealers will be able to place orders very soon (dummy orders apparently can be placed now)
  • It is the NA debut for the car
  • This final detail has been really drug out for a long time by BMW

Another really good piece of evidence would be knowing if BMW has announced NA prices for new models previously in Detroit or LA. Anyone know that off hand?

good point. I hope the price is released too.

Does anyone remember how many months in advance was the UK price released before it went on sale? Maybe that amount of time will be similar to US price release.

As I said in a previous thread, BMW USA did not announce pricing for the E93 at last year's Detroit show, even though that is where it debuted. It came at least a month later, long after they had started building them, and even after the demo models started touring the dealerships. This same or similar scenario has happened in the past also with the E60, E90, and E92.

Don't get me wrong, I hope this history does not repeat itself. But I would certainly not bet on pricing in LA.

I would guess that will be the scenario. It makes sense from BMW's perspective to wait as late as possible to take into account currency fluctuations, market conditions, etc. Once a price is announced, they're stuck with it for a while.

My reasons for thinking we would get it were very "touchy feely". Your evidence is much more concrete and based on BMW NA behavior at past shows. With this extra info. I will substantially lower my expectations to get pricing. Thanks.

@chitown - I think you have that post deciphered!

I'd love the meet-up, but it would probably have to be post turkey-day. I'll be coming from out of state.

The San Francisco Auto Show is just a week after the Los Angeles show. Do you think NorCal folks have a chance of seeing the e92/e90 M3 coupe and sedan here? Show dates are 22 November thru 2 December.

Of course, the one I really want to see is the convertible (currently have an e46 convertible now and can't wait to trade her for an e93 M3).

To all the takers on the meeting up idea -> cool. I will suggest a time and place later in the pm part of the show to meet, maybe grab a and then check out the car together.

Would make sense that if they already have them in the state, they'd bring them up north. Never been to that show, though.

I would love to come, but I am in Iraq. I went to the auto show when I was home on leave two weeks ago, but they didn't have the M3 there.

What was that Carly Simon song ........

We can never know about the days to come
But we think about them anyway
And I wonder if I'm really with you now
Or just chasing after some finer day.

Meeting up

OK all of you takers. Lets meet at 2 p.m. at the Liberty Grill. I am getting very excited, hope you are as well. North American debut - here comes m3post.com.

http://www.liberty-grill.com/

Map

It is walking distance from the Auto Show. I hope the 2 p.m. time works for as many as possbile. Should allow folks to still work 1/2 day or so as well as drive in to LA from surrounding areas. We can grab a here and then cruise over to the show and check out the beast together. Looking forward to meeting some of you.

Are we to ask for "Swamp" at the Liberty Grill reception then?

Just kidding. I can't make it all the way out there. Have good time guys.

Also, please don't get into all sorts of strange arguments as a group in front of "the sacred car" like we all do here on the forum. You must be on your best behaviour, not drunk, not troll-like, and dressed in suits with M3Post.com pins.

I do wish some more of the real regulars like you and E could make it but it is way too far just to see the M3...or is it... I'm still pissed about my cancelled flights that kept me away from Geneva.

As to your serious question I will grab a table and put it under the name m3post.com! Good point on that.
