Looking for suspension in the $3,000 to $4,000 range

I've been toying with the idea of changing out my coils since they have a lot of miles on them. I'd like to get 2 way this time but it seems there's nothing in the price range I'm looking at other than the KW Clubsports, but they have front wheel clearance issues.

Then I looked at AST and their 5200 series seem to be over $5,000 and the rears seem to be a true coilover system. I can't seem to find any definite answer if the rear strut tower needs reinforcement with a true coilover conversion, but it would be bad ass to have them.

Moton Clubsports 2-ways seem to be about $500 more than AST. JRZ seems to be pretty similar in pricing too.

I track maybe 4 times a year now with work and kids, and daily drive my car.
I guess the question is, is there a quality 2 way system in the $3,000 to $4,000 price range? Maybe I could reuse my camber plates and springs? Currently running JIC/Cross 1 ways; they don't make them anymore. Tthey're new stuff is totally different than what I have.

Can you get the Bilstein CS for that price?

If you're tracking 4x a year maybe you're better off replacing with a street friendly coil, like the Ohlins, although the rebuild intervals would make me run an OEM-style replacement like the B8 instead

If you have EDC, what about the Bilstein B16? Retains EDC functionality

The R/T's are a consideration but not sure about the progressive springs; maybe I can resuse my current springs.
I believe the Bilsteins' are closer to $6,000.

I guess I should open up the price to around $4,500 max but there seems to be a gap from $3,000 KW CS/Ohlin R/T and the other 2 ways that seem to run around $5,500.
I guess used is another option. There's a set of AST 5200 for sale now but not sure about the rear strut towers on a true rear coilover system.

I have no EDC because I knew I was going to get coils.

The rear strut towers must be reinforced to run a real rear coilover

The MCS 1 way should be right in your price range. The 2way non remote are around 5

I was going to suggest the MCS 1-ways as well.

It's night and day between a real performance shock and a OEM shock. For your purpose go with those and a milder spring rate than you would for a track warrior.

KW clubsports are the best bang for the buck. Inner clearance reduction isn't consequential unless you want to run 10.5" wheels. Plus you can spend an extra $200 (maybe less) and swap for shorter front springs to gain clearance.

Agreed. Set up correctly, KW Clubsports are a phenomenal suspension for the E9x M3, street or track.

MCS 1WNR and 2WNR both fall within your budget. I had the 2WNRs on my f82 M4 until I upgraded to the 2WR. The 2WNR is an excellent street and track suspension option. Great street manners even with higher spring rates.

The AST 5200 is $4k, not $5k. Also, you can request a non-coilover rear setup. However, AST has just started re-selling suspensions in the US after stopping for a few years - they had reliably issues previously.

The Nitron R1 is another great one-way adjustable suspension option or, if you raise your budget to $5k, the R3 is an awesome option and it's three-way adjustable. Non-coilover rear setups are an option.

^+1
Had them on my Z4MC and they were great!
I'm sticking with MCS on the M3 but going to 2WNR

Thanks for the responses. I have a decent set of 1 way coils now, so I don't want to spend thousands on another 1 way system when I could spend a few hundred to to refresh my current set-up.

Would the MCS 2WNR come with springs? I'm assuming camber plates are extra?
If the AST is $4,000 with plates and springs, that's a solid option but the quality issues is a concern that I didn't know about.
I'll have to look into Nitron.

The 2WNR dampers are ~$3300 retail so with camber plates, e9x M3 front adapters, springs, rear upper shock mounts and rear height adjusters it should be ~$4500 retail.

Yes - $4k for complete suspension setup. Cost may be ~$200 or so higher with a non-coilover setup (need rear height adjusters). The new AST line is supposed to have a more robust design.

Nitron isn't widely used in the US but their R3 setup is nice! I'm trying to decide between the MCS 2WR and Nitron R3 for my e92 M3. I absolutely love the MCS 2WR setup on my M4 but I may try the Nitron R3 (3-way vs. 2-way). I've heard nothing but good things about the R3s.

I'm getting AST 5200 soon, currently have Ohlin's R/T. I'll be writing a review on once I get some miles on them.

If OP wants JRZ I can sell my JRZ RS to him.

After like 1 street mile they are rattle buckets. Seriously WTF

Removed them and swapped to a MCS 3WR on one car and MCS 2WNR on the other and haven't looked back

Why do you want two ways? Is it for performance or just to have something to tinker with?

Honestly, just to tinker. Never had them before.
I should probably just refresh my 1 way coils and be fine with it.

I'm considering selling my MCS 2WNR that are only a year old if you are interested. I would include springs 600/900 and a set of ground control street camber plates and be within your budget.

If you daily your car though I might look elsewhere. I am looking to daily my car again and am considering Bilstein Damptronics. The MCS have been phenomenal on track but I don't enjoy them on the street as much.
