http://www.ravenperformance.com/prod...stom-cages.php Or get the Fall Line Motorsports cage, which SYT said he'd be getting for his E92 because it utilizes factory strengthened mounting points. http://ind-distribution.com/ind/cate...t-in-roll-cage |

Circling back to the OP, I am a little frustrated with the inconsistent response of organizers to the Schroth QFP, which I just bought for this season. As a street-legal alternative to the OEM 3-point I would have thought it should be treated as an equivalent constraint system across the board, no more and no less. But that does not seem to be the case.
For example, BMWCCA does not outright ban it, it seems, but for the upcoming event at NJMP they say that NJMP does not allow any 4-point harnesses so can't use it there. |

I've used the schroth quick fit pro 4 point harness with various clubs (including PCA and BMW CCA) at various tracks (including NJMP) and have never had any issue (including with PCA and BMW CCA at NJMP). The only thing that any of the organizations looked for was to see that the harness was designed specifically for the car. My car is an e90, so the harness had to say e90 (which it did) and not e92 or mini (although both of those appear to fit). My understanding is that the generic ban on 4 point harnesses that some clubs have instituted does not apply to the schroth which has all of the necessary safety certifications and the ASM technology.

I did get to see what an S2000 looked like after rolling 7 times. The roof wasn't flattened. If I had a real bad incident...I wouldn't expect a roll bar to do a ton more than what's already designed in the car. I think the biggest risk based on likelihood and severity to deal with is a side impact. I've never heard of someone getting their spine crushed. I have witnessed 5 injuries from a side impact. Particularly the door. ...just a thought.

I recently received the BK bar, Ergo seats, Scroth 6 points and am just waiting for the seat mounting hardware!
The BK bar is tested to meet DOT style seatbelt requirements Once it's set up I'll be sure to post here so everyone can see it |

Despite the language about 4 point harnesses, every single club I've run with has allowed them. I've had instructors get out of the car yelling about instant screaming death but when they bring the tech chair to spank me it turns out the tech chair allows it as the QFPs are street legal I still regard the QFPs like the #1 safety mod for tracking our cars |

NJMP does not allow 4 point harnesses and has also reserved the right to check the expiration dates on aftermarket 5 and 6 point harnesses. If your harness has expired be prepared to use your factory installed harness if necessary! This applies to all vehicles going on track! You guys might still be right, I hope, and I will try to use my QFP at the event, but the language is pretty clear. |

So took sometime with the cage. I met with a fabricator out on Long Island who has built several for E92s. Originally was going to go full but decided against it. Long story short I went with the GTS OEM cage. It was built out in Germany and sent over. I did this because its the only one that I can find that has to go through rigorous testing as its put on a production vehicle. It costs more, quite a bit more, but I have been thinking of it as an insurance cost. I certainly think my life is worth more than I paid for it and it gives me some piece of mind. Attached are some pics I took while the work was getting finished. My biggest issue surprisingly was finding a bar and seats that worked for my size. I am 6'4" and finding seats and a bar that had the right height and angle from the bar to seats was harder than I had ever anticipated. Ended up going with the OMP WRC-R seats partly for comfort but mostly for measurements.

I totally agree. For what it is worth, I emailed the BMWCCA-NY event master for the NJMP track day but did not hear back.

Is there any truth to the Pro lap belt sitting higher than the regular QFs due to the release mechanism, and as a result the regulars being safer than the pros?

You can use a regular with a HANS. The problem is the regular comes off the bottom of the HANS so there's a little more head and neck movement than with the pro.
