Wow, what the heck? That looks like a hack job that came out of a guy's home garage.

It's only a picture on the Internet. I'd really have to see it IRL to say for sure. But if the picture is representative of the real thing then I would say it's a POS job in matching the color. I second bushy's remark -- maybe they got it mixed up with Carbon Black.
Cheers.

since the shop is a bmw approved shop, their workmanship should come with a warranty and they should redo the paint job... Dont let the get away with just blending the paint into the other panels.

Update
The paint shop has agreed to re do the complete job. They will be taking it back to primer and repainting. They have taken the fuel flap to sent off to BMW GB where the paint will be correctly mixed for a perfect match. Apparently, they have some new type of light cabinet that analyses the paint finish and gives the exact mix. An update will follow after the next attempt. |

Good luck and I hope they get it right this time. Looked appalling to tell you the truth.

OMG! I can't believe the car left the bodyshop like that, did they not inspect the paint to make sure it matched before handing the keys over?? I know its hard to tell by pictures but its pretty obvious they are two different colors.

Update!
The colour sample has arrived back from BMW. How does this look now Guys? I think it looks pretty good. Here is a reminder of the awful paint match. Here is the colour panel that BMW has mixed after their machine analysed the original paint on the fuel flap. It's difficult to see with a small plastic panel, but I think it looks pretty much perfect. The panel on the left matches the door pillar on the right, Here are some shots in direct sunlight against some original panels. Last edited by alpina527; 04-14-2010 at 11:46 AM.. |

Please do not have the shop blend the panels. The two panels are so different, the shop should really respray those panels.
