What is this?

There is a black plastic tab located inside the trunk; it's in the center/top part of the trunk (below the lid) and is able to move forwards and backwards...not sure what the heck it is. Anyone?

It is to hold the false floor up.

It holds the compartment lid up for space where you keep the emergency tire inflation whatchamajigger.
