2006 M3 Service

Hey all. I just bought this car and it has 45k on it. How often does the oil need changing and what should i do about servicing in general. I have the factory 50k left and i purchased the extended 80k warranty too. Rolled over in payments. I'd rather have you guys help because the manual isnt always rite.

Monday i have an appointment already because the check engine light came on this past Tuesday. Probly a sensor but its covered. Just frustrating because i just got the damn thing. I need yalls expert advice

First, this is the E90/E92/E93 M3 forum, you have an E46 M3. The correct forum for your M3 is this: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Second, your E46 M3 have a Service Indicator in the instrument cluster that literally tells you when service is due. If you do not understand how it works then take a look at your Owner's Manual or simply ask your dealer when you go to that appointment.

Normally, the oil gets changed around 5K. The light that was mentioned above will come on when you need to change your oil. If you change it yourself, you will probably have to go to the dealer to have it turned off.
