i'd still rather own the gtr than the zr1. more complete, the performance is more accessible to my level of driving skill and it is a more practical street car.

now if I need a dedicate track car, definitely z06 or gt3 rs. other than that, they are useless in cold weather or if you have kids.

this track has lot of long straight, so no surprised the zr1 beat the gtr as the zr1 has more hp and much much lighter. why judge performance of a car based on result of just one track?

The '09 M3 might of not been a ZCP car but, it sure did have the PS Cup tires on and only did marginally better...

Stick Leh Keen in a ZCP M3 and watch the time be closer to 3:00.

In terms of M3 vs Boss Laguna we are talking about a car that dyno's 330-340whp with back seats and and a car that dyno's 405-420rwhp and has chassis support bars instead of back seats. I'm not even going into the torque numbers, it fell where it should've (impressive time at that) and they've never run an M3 ZCP at lightning lap
Sorry to jump in here... PS Cups are definitely not anything like an RE070. RE070 is an OEM tire on the GTR and was OEM on the STI and S2000 CR. It is sticky, but it is a bit less sticky than the Hankook RS3/AD08. It's about on par with the older AD07.

The PS Cups are definitely a whole grip level stickier than the RE070's.

So....?

You stick him in the other cars and those times will drop substantially as well

+1. I would add that the newer gtrs use the dunlop sp sport maxx tires. It has a treadwear rating of 200. For perspective the Michelin pilot sport cup zp used on the Vette have a rating of 80. The Vette is obviously very fast, but to deny the tires don't make a significant difference simply shows a lack of experience or understanding of how a car behaves on the track, esp. at it's limits. If one looks at the treads or should I say lack thereof on the sport cups, it's very obvious. There are some areas where it's basically slick. Motortrend's best driver's car test in fact dropped the z06 to 6th place because of this advantage-same track DOT tires. I don't particularly agree with that ranking since they are a factory option, but they were looking for the best all around car on the track and road. Those tires are very risky for daily driving. Here is a list of DOT track tires I pulled from tirerack:

The point I was making, smart ass, is that Leh owns (owned) an E92M3 so he would be quite familiar with the car and therefore could most certainly squeeze more out of.

At the end of the day, The Lightning Lap means nothing as the cars are driven by different drivers on different days and the drivers aren't even top tier drivers.
