Another overfill after oil change

So for my last 4 oil change(include the break in service) 3 of them were overfilled. One 1 out of the 4 dealerships did that oil change right. I start to think now it is more of a problem from BMW otherwise how can their tech doing this wrong at the rate of 75%. Just seems amazing to me that this car is out for 4 years now and still is this so difficult to make a simple oil change correct? Sigh!

i had an overfill once too. I think it's b/c they don't fully drain the oil, then add the max allowable.

I had an overfill when they forgot (didn't know) to drain the filter plug/sump and then stuck in 9L. It took 3 attempts to get right.

Bingo. Problem is with a sensor, the level can be a hair above full or quite a bit; you never know, so it's better to bring it down by draining front sump and top level off carefully. I like to have it full to monitor oil consumption, which is quite easy once you understand how the sensor works and how to check level consistently. A lot of times level is fine, but people rely on the reading the car throws, rather than checking level properly, thinking sensor is wrong or inconsistent, when it's them . Good day.

I am still debating if I should re-visit the service department. One of the overfill I had in the past, I took the car back immediately and came out to be under-fill which I had to add 1L by myself. I used to live nearly 1 hour of driving from the dealership I go, so I sucked up and used one bottle of my own purchased oil.

Just DIY man. Start by checking the oil level properly, by doing a manual reset in your garage with engine idling and fully hot (drive for at least 10 miles), and go from there. My guess is you're just a bit above full, if at all, so not worth the trouble for 1L of oil ($12) or less. And always use the same spot from now on; DO NOT rely on the dash reading as a true measure; it's only a ball park, like measuring your tire pressures when hot (it's not accurate). Good luck.

I would do my oil change if I have the place. Currently I am away from my place and will remain this for likely the next 12-18 months. I really miss my own garage with all the things I can play with around my cars. Sigh.

After my last visit to the dealer for a check, they add 1 ltr. of oil to the engine according to the bill. and now the dash it marks MAX level.
does having the oil at maximum level can cause any damage to the engine?

Same...and then they gave it back to me 1 notch above minimum. I bought a quart of oil and keep it in the trunk...just in case.
