I have searched the forum quite a bit about the stock Luk clutch and Spec clutch. FYI I am not super charged yet. Just catless x pipe, intake, and rear exhaust.
I have for 3 part numbers here that will file the e92 M3. https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/20...lutch_kit.html The prices are all different. I am 08 owner, so I will have to get the new DMF. ECS tuning has the $403.00 Luk on their sight and the same applies to the fly wheel. My question is will the other two fit ? Why are they cheaper? I'll attach some screen shots too. Also thoughts on the Spec kit??? From what I have read so far, it seems to be mixed reviews. |

It depends on your production date. If your car was built prior to 09/2008 you will need a flywheel for any clutch 'upgrade'. Otherwise you need to source an OEM / Luk clutch specifically for M3s built prior to that date.
I am in the same boat, and looking for opinions from those who have gone with a kit 'upgrade'. There isn't much of a price difference from sourcing OEM to say a Spec SS kit.

So it does particularly matter which versions of the Luk clutch package is purchased, as long as the Luk flywheel is purchased as well?
I know about the before 08/08 production dates needing the updated flywheel. I'm just wondering why parts geek had 3 versions of the same clutch at different prices. Also the cheapest one is listed with a Luk global number. |

Is the OEM clutch from Luk ?
Actually i found yet another part number from Luk than the ones you listed that is sold as a BMW M3 08-13 Clutch kit. Is the OEM bmw clutch one of these or from a different manufacturer ? |

The Spec clutch does not feel like the stock clutch. It is more difficult to modulate, if you add their lightweight flywheel it is almost on/off. Definitely not what I would suggest for a primarily street driven car.
LUK manufactures clutches for BMW (and many other OEM's). It's the same thing you'd get from the BMW dealer without the several hundred extra dollars for the BMW logo printed on it. We use the LUK 6223308000 clutch at our shop. Same as the 21212284034 BMW part. |
