When Was Your First Brake Change?

Just wondering when everyone first had to change their front or rear brakes?

I have a 2011 with almost 40k miles and the service indicator is telling me I have about 10,000 miles until i'm due.

I know the service indicator is based on driving style, but i'm trying to see when everyone else has had to change their front or rear brakes?

35k miles with 2k miles left on the front and 5k miles at the back (according to iDrive). Visually it looks like I have about 30% left.

I don't even know how trustworthy the CBS indicator is on the pads. I have 64k on the clock (bought with 45k) and in nearly 20k miles it has barely changed. Strangely, the rear brakes went from 12k to 6k one week but the fronts stayed the same.

I've opted to just visually inspect but am continually impressed with how slowly the pads wear. Haven't pulled out my calipers to measure disc thickness, though.

Iirc the sensor actually measures changes in resistance so it's not just driving style it comes into contact with the rotor pretty early and starts wearing down the little nub in the middle which I think gives it a different resistance reading the more it wears.

My fronts were still not indicating they needed changed at nearly 60k miles

Changed mine at 76923. Sensor tripped. Surprisingly, I still had quite a bit of pad material left. It was actually the disc wearing below min thickness and the lip on the disc was wearing out the sensor to trip it.

Wow, the brakes do seem to last quite awhile. I've had the car for over 10k miles and the mileage to change my brakes haven't changed.

2000 miles when I took them off and installed a BBK.

89k... original rotors (28.7mm), a handful of track days (Not experienced enough to push it to the cars' limits yet). Changed brake pads to some street/track pads (didn't measure but were thicker than my stock pads) and am back on stock pads with a bit over 4mm (need to get this under 4mm for a brake pad/rotor swap before 100k).

They are massive overkill for a street car driven like a sane person. And yet still can't take much punishment at 10/10ths of the car's capability.

Ah I remember it well it was the summer of 82 i was 11 years old. My dad gave me a pack of menthols and the promise of an ass whooping if I didn't change the pads on his 78 k10 blazer...

I am still showing 28k km on mine and the car has 50k miles. bought it at 43k miles last Nov. I wonder if my pads have been changed before? Nearly 70k miles seems a lot for oem pads.

Nope that's probably original. I went to stoptechs at about 60k miles and the front pads still had a while to go.

I realize I'm late to the party here, but I have a 2011 E90 M3 that I call my daily, but I don't drive her, every day.

I'm trying to understand why my rear brakes need replacement after less than 12000Km. Front brakes are still showing 25000km until next service in iDrive. My driving style is spirited, but these pads and rotors have never seen a track.

There must be something wrong. I replaced the brakes a little less than a year ago on both axles, because the rears were crying and the sensor had gone off for the back, so I did all 4 corners. Now the rears are crying again and the sensor has gone off too and it hasn't been long enough in my opinion. Plus, why just the back and not the front, second time in a row?

I haven't broken out my calipers, but now that the audible is making an appearance and the sensor is recommending service in iDrive, I don't think think it's necessary to measure. I need to replace, but I'd like to know why this is happening, so I can avoid unnecessary wear in the future. I feel like the rear pads are wearing out way too fast!

Are you using the original pads and rotors? Measure the pads and rotors to see if they really need replacing. CBS isn't always accurate when it comes to spirited or track driving.

I changed front and rear rotors and pads at 64k miles. I probably could've gone another 10-20k more but wanted to get it out of the way.

81k miles here, still on original brakes. Only now needing a repacement lol
