I used the home made kit and it leaked. It also seemed to build up additional pressure since there wasn't anywhere for the fluid to go. Back to a rag. Works like a charm.

* 2 feet of vaccum line (Napa)
* 90° fitting is a 5/32" elbow connector PN#9873 (Napa)
* 1 M6 bolt (+ M6 washer)

Total cost: less than $40.

Notice the logo on the cap? Yup, Brembo!

Also notice the nipple on the cap is angled so it fits perfectly bolted to the ground bolt thingy on the side of the engine bay without bending the line.

I used a little under 2 feet of line just so I can unscrew/screw the cap without disconnecting anything.

I'll find out next weekend if this setup works as expected.

Thank you for the part numbers and sharing. I needed this after coming from the track and saw all the fluid splashed for the first time.

Yes it does. The reservoir and cap are still the same design and allow for the power steering fluid to spill. I'm having the issue on my 2013 and will go with kaiv's solution as soon as I receive all the parts.

There is an adapter that is needed for the bottom nozzle since it is slightly larger (about 1 size) than the M3 hose. This can be purchased at any auto parts store.
Tom,

Just want to make sure I get the right adapter so I don't get stuck at the house with a car that can't go anywhere. Can you list the specific adapter or sizes. Thanks.

I tried the PS reservoir from the 1M in my E92 M3 track car and it doesn't work much better than the M3 reservoir. Still looking for a better solution.

Yeah, I've considered doing that but one of our local dealers does our tech forms for free. Every few events I have them check & top off the reservoir. Given those circumstances, the black sweatband ziptie approach has been adequate.

I'd love that reservoir extension piece - but jesus tapdancing christ, six hundred sixty freaking dollars? Like.....WHY?

Ya, used sweatband/rag with zip ties for a couple years and those r fine too.

As for 660, cuz 660 is like 6.60 for ballers? Similar to spending over a grand for those thin side view GTS mirrors...

One thing I never get used to is the M-tax, which takes the BMW tax and cranks it up to 11. It's the cross we must all bear.

I find that mine is saturated after one track event... I replace it each time. My thinking is that a fluid saturated sweat band is not the best thing to have hanging around my hot engine compartment.

was thinking about getting that but someone said it doesn't have a filter inside like the OEM one. Have you encountered any issue with this setup?

I had an M6 bolt laying around to do this but it was the wrong pitch. What is the correct thread pitch?

Got it. M6x1.0 which is what I had. I just had to chase the threads with a tap first to clean out funk.
