True. Proformance has a deal with Pacific and they don't let many other orgs in. If I was you I would start with BMW CCA. You will get an instructor in the right seat. This will be ideal till you are an "expert". BMW CCA doesn't run very many times a year so you may have to find a few other orgs that will work for you.

Not quite a track veteran, but had my first track experience was at the Ridge motorsport park (RMP) last year in a novice/beginner group;rode with instructor for a few laps. A bit nerve racking at first, but after trying it, reflecting, and studying race lines on youtube... I joined the intermediate group at the next event and 'naturally' improved my lap times after each event. Let me know if you want some pointers at that track from me.

Collecting data for weekends this year with...
Oregon SCCA Solo (PIR and Packwood) Cascade Sports Car Club (PIR) Porsche Club (The Ridge, ORP, PIR) TNIA (PIR) Thoughts? The 991 TTS is becoming a garage queen until I'm better and less risky, and the E90 is becoming a beast of (track) burden for myself and my 15-yo son. Mods are mostly oriented around tires, wheel, brakes, and camber plates so far (other than the full-suite of Dinan stuff that came with the car). |

Hooked on Driving also runs good days so I've heard but I haven't ran with them before, but I'm going to their first day of the year on 04/19. I did TNIA once and haven't been back. It was terrifyingly bad. No instruction for novices, they weren't enforcing black flags (people passing dangerously because they had high HP cars and thought it was cool to just blast by people who they would then hold up in the corners). I may go once this year just to see if it got any better. |

I really want to do one at ORP and one at the Ridge relatively soon. We'll see what Track Night In America is like a week form today and I'll report back. I have TNIA on Friday, and then SCCA AutoX Saturday and Sunday next weekend |

Woo! I got my registration for the June PCA weekend at ORP/Grass Valley. (happy dance)
I'll need to find out what the barriers are if I want to run the 911 Turbo Sunday if the BMW wears something out on Saturday. |

FWIW I don't run TNIA. By my standards it's a complete cluster. They don't offer any instruction at all, let people into whatever run group they want. So you get dude-bros in GTR's and tuned Corvettes who think they are God's gift to driving being an asshole. Basically, consider the types of bullshit driving you see on the freeway, but it's at 120mph instead of 60. And yeah the Portland BMW club (I'm also instructing with them) is a local group, not affiliated with the national CCA. Their days are on motorsportreg.com as well if you look at PIR. |

I'll be at the BMW day next Thursday (05/03), the CSCC day on Friday (05/04), taking pictures at the race on Saturday (05/05), and driving the CSCC Advanced/Solo group in between races on Sunday (05/06).
So come say hi! Barring scheduling/work issues, I should be at all the BMW/CSCC days, some of the HOD and some of the Skip Track days at PIR. Maybe 1-2 Skip Days at ORP this year. Silver E46 M3 with the BLU FLG license plate. Unless my new diff isn't installed by then, in which case white E92 M3. |

HOD at ORP June 2nd and 3rd.
BMW club at PIR June 7th. HOD at PIR June 21 and 22. Most will be on motorsportsreg.com but HOD (Hooked on Driving) will not. I will hopefully be at a few of these getting some seat time in the E46 M3 with S62 Beast! |

I will likely do one of the HOD days late June. Was going to do the Taste of Motorsports thing but $500 for 4 sessions (even if it is gourmet catering) is kinda meh. Can do both HOD days for $550. Will likely just do HOD on the 22nd. |

And I will be at Track Night in America next Friday (the 8th) as well. I said I would give them one more chance to not suck, so we'll see how well it goes!
