Recommendations of reputable shops in Chicagoland

Hey Everyone,

Just moved to downtown Chicago and need some recommendations on reputable Chicagoland BMW shops for small jobs. For example I need to get some programming done for some new brake pad senssors.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reco, is there a specific mechanic or advisor you work with? The stuff I need done is simple but I just want to be careful. One of my best friends is a master tech in Cincinnati so anything big goes to him.

I wish I could rent out some garage space somewhere close, I heard there was a place in South Loop but closed due to the pandemic.

BTW, if this pandemic ever calms down and you want to go driving let me know. Just moved here and haven't found any BMW guys yet in town, I live in Lakeshore East.

I went to AutoSprint LTD, the owner and team there are a Ferrari and Fiat specialized shop but also work on BMW's and other German cars. They did a great job with my brake pad sensors and only charge $120/hr. The shop also does a lot of work for cars at Autobahn Country Club.

Check out European Garage Inc. Located probably around ~ 20 miles west of you in Addison.

Owners name is Nazar and he's pretty straight forward and friendly. I got my RB installation done from him. Good guy.

Did you end up going there to install the test pipes? How was your experience? I'm looking to get exhaust + test pipe installed soon and looking for a shop in or around Chicago as well.

I ended up going with Performance Eurowerks because I got a Black Friday deal on their tune as well. Highly recommend them and their customer service. I had troubles with getting through on their phone but via email they were responding to me very promptly. They are apparently also moving to Elk Grove in February so that will be much closer to Chicago.

In case anyone else is looking for good shops, I ended up going to Performance Eurowerks in Buffalo Grove (soon moving to Elk. Grove). Couldn't be happier, great service, very knowledgeable since these are the cars they primarily only work on and Alex has a e92 himself. They did my Rod Bearings, Throttle Actuators, Thermostat and Thermostat Sensor, installed a Macht Schnell intake kit, and Eisenmann Race Exhaust with a test pipe. Car is running great especially after flashing Stage 2 tune. Highly recommend this shop and they are reasonably priced. Thanks acevo8

Now can someone please recommend some good body shops to touch up my front bumper and install a lip, rear diffuser and maybe a CSL style trunk? Preferably in Chicago or close to downtown although I'm obviously willing to drive to the suburbs for quality and a fair price.

Great to hear that Performance Eurowerks worked out for you. They are indeed a great shop, can't wait will they make the full transition to Elk Grove, that'll be much closer for me 😀How do you like the sound of the Eisenmann with test pipes, is it loud? Also, did you do an o2 extender for the test pipes?

I got the Eisenmann Race with their connecting pipes and paired it with the Turner Test Pipe, no o2 extender. It is very loud but sounds great.

A&L is my go to alongside Performance Eurowerks, really can't go wrong with either shop.

For detail shop I highly recommend Lumi Detailing.
